Jane - Were there any other children in the family? If so, can you give their names and ages? Eileen B.
Have you checked with the genealogy/historical society in Shelby County at Shelbyville? Edward H. Boedecker did transcriptions of many cemeteries in Shelby County. I have a few pages photocopied from Union Cemetery which was read in October 1973 which states it is located in Sec. 24 Clarksburg Twp., slightly northeast of the village of old Mode. This had been at one time called the Williams graveyard. I have the copies since many of my Ponsler are buried there and one was married to a Williams. I have been to the cemetery but could not tell you how to get to it since it was on a visit there from here (Tacoma, Washington). I will be happy to check the pages that I do have for your name. Hello, I am looking for any help for anyone. These 2 are my gg-grandparents I know of 2 children Martha Atwood Taylor, and (ggrandmother) Eliza Taylor they lived in Shelby ILL. in 1878 when Eliza married William Nichols and Martha married Charles E. Nichols. Sisters married brothers. I do have a death on Martha it just dosent give any information except she is buried in Union cemetery in Mode ILL. and I have been unable to find a address for this cemetery to get records. Eliza Taylor Nichols was put in a hospital for the insane I can find nothing on her. I would welcome any help anyone can send my way. Thank you, Barbara eor@saber.net
Hi. I have researched all I can on my G Grandparents. Illiois Archives has them being Married in Oct, 1857 there is Shelby Co. Found one Polly Scribner Taylor in Windsor, but her husbands name was James. Polly and John Taylor had my Grandmother Mary Lizabeth in 1873 there in Illinois. Two SCRIBNER Families had Polly's one Edward Scribner and the other Soloman Scribner. from Flatbranch. Soloman died in Texas.l Both Polly's were born about the same year 1841-43. John A. TAYLOR is illusive. Yet there are some land records during 1860 with his name on them, I have been told there is a Taylor Cemetary there. Please anyone with knowledge of John A. TAYLOR or Polly A. SCRIBNER TAYLOR please contact me. Jane Wood
Barbara - In 1920 census in Marion County, IL, Alma Twp is the following family: 166/168 - William H. Nichols, laborer, railroad, 62, IL IL OH Eliza M., wife, 60 IL IL IL Hardon E., son, brakeman, railroad, 33 IL IL IL Charles E., son, carman, railroad, 20 IL IL IL Osie, daughter, 12 IL IL IL Could this be the family? Eileen B.
Barbara - Do you know where Eliza was hospitalized? I was able to get a death certificate for an individual who died in 1911 at the Anna State Hospital. The record was there. The Union Cemetery of which you speak may be under the care of the Clarksburg Twp. Often that is the case. I don't know who is the supervisor of that township but maybe someone else on line will know. Buried in Union Cemetery, Clarksburg Twp. is Julia A. Taylor who died 1 Aug 1905 at the age of 77y 2m 24d. Would that be her? When was the last record you have for Bradley and Julia Taylor in Shelby Co.? Have you checked census? Eileen B.
Thanks to everyone for all the help on the death certifcate information! I don't know whether or not there is a connection to Leonard Renner. Wilson Renner and Margaret Storm were married in Rockcastle County, Kentucky on September 28, 1958. Margaret's grandparents were Rev. James Storm and his wife Sarah. Margaret's father was Jacob Storm (who died in Laurel County, Kentucky on Aapirl 16, 1853). James and Sarah Storm left Laurel County, Kentucky and arrived in Shebly County, Illinois before 1860, and Margaret Storm Renner and her husband also arrived in Shelby County, Illinois around the same time. Margaret Storm Renner was a sister to Henderson Storm who married Julia Rankin in Shelby County, Illinois in 1868. I am hoping to identify the mother of Margaret Storm and Henderson Storm. Here is all I have on Margaret Storm Renner's family: Descendants of Wilson Renner 1 Wilson Renner 1839 - 1917 .. +Margaret Storm 1841 - 1912 ......... 2 Sarah Renner 1859 - ......... 2 Nancy Renner 1862 - ......... 2 Antonia Renner 1869 - ......... 2 Jesse M. The FHL in Salt Lake has microfilms of the death certs for IL. You could order the right film from your local family history library and see it before you order it, if you need a certified copy. Wilda, I couldn't find a Margaret Renner on the info I have except my John Renner is a brother to Leonard which I show as born Jan.08, 1822. I don't have a birth on Elizabeth other than she is one of the sisters. The father is Tobias & the mother is Cynthia Smith. I show a total of 8 brothers, & sisters. I haven't been doing the Renners very much or very long but can go forward some from there. I have no other info on Leonard than I specified. I never knew who he married or children! Terry R. Hi Patty, I don't know the cost of the fee for a death certificate, so hopefully someone can tell you that. However, I want to let you and everyone know that there was a fire in the Shelby County Courthouse (in the elevator shaft), so the courthouse is closed for the time being. If no one knows the cost of a death certificate, then you might want to call them. If you don't have a cell phone, then let me know (off-list) and I'll call them in a week or so and find out for you. I would like a copy of the certificate for: RENNER, MARGARET 01/03/1912 BIG SPRING TWP 71 YR F 5 204 SHELBY However, I don't really need it unless it names her parents. Do the death certificates from this time period name the parents? Sorry that William was born in 1841 not 1831. I looked at the 1860 census instead of the 1850 census.
