    3. Hello List I am new to Shelby Co ILL list. Does anyone have the 1850 Sehlby Co Federal Census? I would like to request a look-up for three family members. John H. TODD William M. TODD James & Juliana Todd DAVIS 1838 all were listed as Grantors in Deed to a David R. WILLIAMS of Bourbon Co KY. The three Todd's were born children of Benjamin B. & Franky Hooper Todd. I do not know when they move to Shelby Co but could have been by the 1840 Census as there father died before or during the year of 1838. Any help greatly appreciated Lorraine Llewellyn Falcon MO

    2. Barbara Smith
    3. Hello Everyone, I like alot of researchers would like to join the DAR. I have a missing link and would like to know if anyone has the missing link. George Lewis Nichols was born is Shebly ILL. his parents are Thomas Nichols and Melinda Ginger they were married April 14, 1927 in Fayette, ILL. There seems to be 2 Thomas Nichols in the same town same age just married to different people. Thomas P. Nichols was married to Delinda Rhoads when he died. Eveyone has this Thomas also married to Melinda Ginger but there are 2 families that have documented proof that Thomas P. Nichols was married to Delinda Rhoads when he died. George Lewis Nichols the son to Thomas Nichols and Melinda Ginger was born Nov. 29, 1829. If anyone has information on Henry Ginger's daughter Melinda or a birth or death on Melinda or something other than the marraige of Melinda and Thomas I would welcome any help. Thank you, Barbara eor@saber.net

    2. R. Poteet
    3. Hello Shelby Co. list I am at a loss, up against a brickwall. I have been researching my Poteet ancestors since 1996 and have come up with a big zero. I have been able to find my gggGrandfather, Isaac Poteet, arriving in Shelby County around 1827. With him were two sons, Barney and John. Barney had a son born 1843 in Rose township he named Isaac. Isaac married Isabel Valentine, the daughter of Levi Valentine. They had a boy named Robert Newton Poteet who is my gGrandfather. Does anyone have information on these families? Isaac came to Illinois first to Pope County from Williamson County Tennessee. Then to Shelby County. Other names associated with the Poteet's are: Page Fisher Parr Dilley Bone Daniel Bechtel Sarver Any help would be greatly appreciated. Contact me at: rpoteet@frontiernet.net

    1. Brenneman-Taylor-Smith-King) Need some help
    2. Barbara Smith
    3. Hello, This family fits together some how is there anyone from this line that has put it straight, I can sure use the help. On all census they put ILL. except the 1880 and Bradley Taylor and Julia Smith Taylor put P.A. and as they named there oldest son Henry I thought it would be the name of one of there father's more than likely or a brother. I am not able to find any of there families in P.A. I do know by 1880 Bradley is gone and and Julia and Henry are not in ILL. sometime after 1880 and are back again until the 1900 census where they are back in ILL. As you can see from the messages from those that have been so very kind in helping me on this site it seems Henry dies with no children. All the 3 children are born in ILL. as on the 1850 census the only child in the home with Bradley and Julia is a Susan Smith at age 10. The house next door has a female Sarah Taylor 21 and a Mary E. Taylor 8 which is I guess the daughter to Sarah she lives in the home of Joseph and Alzada Brenneman so I do think Alzada was a Taylor before marraige but there is also a Mary King 23 liven in Josheph and Alzada home. Mary Taylor put she is from Penn. on the census. This is the 1850 census . Are these yours also? Barbara eor@saber.net

    3. I finally found Henry and Julia on the 1900 census in Shelby County, but they were living in Holland Township. I then find Henry on the 1910 census as follows: 1910 Census Holland Township, Fancher Village, Shelby County, Illinois TAYLOR, Henry, Head, M, W, 58, married 7 years, IL, IL, IL, Farmer TAYLOR, Margaret, Wife, F, W, 55, married (2nd marriage) 7 years, IL, OH, PA TAYLOR, Jude, Son, M, W, 15, single, IL, IL, IL TAYLOR, John, Son, M, W, 12, single, IL, IL, IL LEATHER, Mary, Sister-in-law, F, W, 58, Widow, IL, IL, IL NOTE: The sons listed had to have been his stepsons, and, therefore, their last name could not have been Taylor as listed on the census. Henry and Margaret probably married in either 1902 or 1903. I found his wife Maggie (Margaret) Taylor, a widow, living with her son John (whose last name is Bixler and her sister, Mary Leather (could be Cleathers), on the 1920 census in Clarksburg, Shelby County, Illinois. It appears that Henry died sometime after the 1910 census and before the 1920 census. Yes this is my family line, on the 1900s census in Mode of Shelby CO. only Henry is with her as a farmer and I think he is in his 20s. By then Bradley the father is gone and I have never been able to find out where he is. Julia is buried in Old Mode cemetery. It seems like they Lived in Shelby, White, and Holland Counties Martha marries Charles E. Nichols in 1880s and I lost Julia and Henry until the 1900 census. I have no idea where Bradley is or where Julia and Henry were for almost 20 years or where Henry goes after his mother dies.
