    2. Hello Sondra Sorry for not getting back to you sooner....had been down in SC. Ref the Ayers in Wapello Co, IA....I cannot directly link any of my people to Eliza Ann Ayers, however I do have a VERY elusive family....HARRIS AYARS (1805-bef 1860) who married Elisabeth Danzenbecker in Salem Co, NJ in 1825 who appears in Franklin Co, IN in 1840 and 1850 (spelled "Hollis Hyers" in one index). Some of his children then appear in Wapello Co, IA in 1860 census- Mary Ayres (1830-1909) who married James Stafford and L Fleming and perhaps a Mr Rider; and Fielding Ayars (abt 1851-). [note that spellings vary from Ayars to Ayers to Ayres depending on document]. Harris Ayars had 7 children: John Henry, Mary, Sarah, George, Margaret, Lewis D, and Fielding.....I do not know who his parents were nor do I know if he travelled with other "Ayars" to the mid-west. If you run across anything which may match up, I would love to know about it. Walt Ayars

    3. The last message I sent did not go through...got a message that there was an error. I will try again. Does anyone have information on George A. Poteet from Shelbyville. He was a Lieutenant Colonel in the One Hundred and Fifteenth Infantry Regiment of the Illinois Volunteer Army. He was mustered out on June 15, 1865. I believe he moved to Kansas after the war, but returned to Springfield for reunions at least to 1905. I am sure of a relationship because he enlisted my gGrandfather, Isaac Poteet, into the army at Camp Butler on Aug 9, 1862

I've got quite a bit going on right now, and as all of you know, I've had a bunch of requests. I'll get to them as soon as I can, but it may take me a week to catch up. 2. Walter I have an Eliza Ann Ayers who married Simeon Robertson in Wapello County, IA and have found some other Ayers on the 1850 census in the same county. I wouldn't have thought to much of it but Samuel Zachariah Robertson was in Shelby County, IL area for about 10 plus years. Could these Ayers be some of your family? Sondra Robertson Scholz

    3. The all name index by the society is under copyright. To be legal about it written permission would have to be obtained from them to place it online. I also have this entire book scanned and was working on proofreading the OCR errors out of it for ILGenWeb when life & death happened so I stalled out on chapter 8. If it helps anyone you can see the original table of contents at http://people.ce.mediaone.net/susantort/CombHist/index.htm the only thing missing is at the bottom after "Partial List of Patrons" I left off the Constitution of IL, Declaration of Independance, Constitution of US and Amendments to the C of US. I was going to finish the next 6 chapters before I talked to Tim & Pat about moving it or leaving it where it is until it is done, guess there is no rush now. I also have an original 1875 Atlas and the original Portrait & Biographical Record of Shelby & Moultrie, all to be completed at some point in life for Shelby & Moultrie ILGebWeb and the original books given to the society that needs them the most.
