Pat, I am currently researching the Wilson Family however not the names you mention at this time. I just thought I would mention that I am searching for Walter (Edgar?) Wilson who married Emma (Cora Emmaline Eaton) May 2, 1901 in Moline, Rock Island, IL which is quite a distance from Shelby Cty. However, Emma was born in Windsor, Shelby Cty, IL. These two people are my husband's grandparents and lived in Mechanicsburg, Sangamon Cty, IL. which is West of Shelby Cty. I guess what I am saying to you is that some Wilsons are in Sangamon Cty but also had a connection to Shelby Cty. (I am beginning to realize that Wilsons are ALL OVER THE COUNTRY.) My husband is the only person living and his parents were divorced when he was 3 mo. of age in 1933. I wish I had some help for you but maybe in the future. Norma Wilson, Golden, CO
Hi David, Some time ago someone suggested that I do that. I don't have the time or a web page to put it on. I know the index is copyrighted, but I think the Shelby County Historical and Genealogical Society would probably give permission to put it on line. As far as I know, they don't have any more copies of the reprint of the book, which contains the Every Name Index, for sale and don't plan another printing. The logical place to put the index is the same webpage that has the book. And I lost the URL for the site when my hard drive had to be replaced. Just found it again. It's linked on the Moultrie Co, IL GENWEB page. URL is http://edenmartin.com/ . Sounds like a good project for someone, to contact both the society for permission and the webpage owner to get him/her to put it on line. The original book is 333 pages and the index is 74 pages. An alternative, if the web page owner doesn't want to put it up, is for the Shelby Co, IL GENWEB Coordinator to put it on that page. If someone wants to do it, I'll be happy to copy the index and mail it to whoever can do the job of getting it online. That would save me the time I'm spending on lookups. Hi Dick Cazier: Do you think Shelby Co. H&GS would allow the index to be put on the web? No response needed. Happy Hunting jdn ( : ) j. david Neher San Diego, CA .......................... Dick, I must have missed your first note. How about Samuel Summers and William Knox? Edna
Hi Susie, This started out in response to the posting of the original of the history book to a website. The original does not have the every name index. That was added to a reprint of the book by Shelby Co. H&GS, which I have a copy of. I offered a lookup and it's gone nuts. In answer to your request: Timperly, Henry page 326 " , Mary Orinder page 326 Reynolds, 20 entries Wilson, 53 entries Gillaspie, No given name page 257 Gillespie, Joseph (Judge) page 77 I really can't handle open surname requests. When asking for lookups, please limit them to not more than one or two surnames and include the given name you are looking for. Please, no more than 6 total names. Sorry, I forgot to say that Alexander Banning's death was in 1849. Gayle
I have Ann Banning married ti Rutherford Tennyson, but I don't have aa documented date of marriage. When her father, Alexander Banning, died, they were married, as proven in the estate settlement. Did his first wife possibly die in childbirth? Sorry I don't have more. Gayle
Has anyone joined the list who can tell me when Rhodie Whitfield Tennison, wife of Rutherford Tennison, died? It was probably between 1833-1836. They were in Shelby Co., by 1830, when Joseph Tennison was born. Also, does anyone have any information on Willis WHITFIELD, of Shelby Co.? Was he Rhodie's brother? Thank you. Karen
Susie I am looking for Marcus Wilson & his bro. William Wilson that married sister Susan & Jane Gillett in Coles Co. IL in about 1840. William & Marcus Wilson were born in VA. They both came to Limestone Co. TX before 1860. Do these names mean anything to you? Pat Oates in TX. Dear List members, We have now completed eighty Illinois County Family History Links on our website. We will make further updates as we receive more church records, which is a constant ongoing task. We are now preparing to enter the same type of data, church history and family surnames of members information, for counties in Iowa, and have already entered our information for five counties in Wisconsin. We have the research either complete or well underway for Nebraska, Kansas, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho, but in Missouri, Kentucky, and Indiana, we have a great deal more original research work to do, and will appreciate help from anyone who knows of the existence of Primitive Baptist church records or membership lists for those states. We have made enough revision and addition to our whole website, to warrant giving you the URL addresses again, in case you wish to check our site again, or see it for the first time. We encourage you to write on the guest books which are at the bottom of two or three of our webpages. Here are the website addresses: Our main homepage (with links to research completed and/or in progress for several states): http://www.carthage.lib.il.us/community/churches/primbap/pbl.html Or, for Illinois counties, go directly to: http://www.carthage.lib.il.us/community/churches/primbap/FamHist.html Best wishes, Elder Robert Webb The Primitive Baptist Library Carthage, Illinois ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Hi Cousin. Moses and Ruth are my GGGG-Grandparents. All I have found about Micager is (unconfirmed by myself) info that he married Elizabeth Barnes (b. abt 1786) on Feb. 6, 1807 in Wilkes Co., NC. Ruth was born March 02, 1808 in Iredell, NC. and was in Warren County, TN. by the time she married Moses in 1825. Annis was in Shelby County by the time she married William on Feb 12, 1835. What is your source for the name Milly Reed being connected to the Reed branch that Moses is a part of? The first thing to always keep in mind is that back in the early 1800's there were two Reed families in Shelby County and so far none of us have been able to find the link between them. Pat, there may be a connection. the fortners were early pioneers to the area in Illinois that my family was from Shelby county. This branch of Fortners, I think, came from NC to Tenn. then to Shelby county in 1820's. Micajah Fortner's daughter Ruth married Moses Reed and they located on section 23 in Shelbyville township. The Greens were neighbors Felix green married Milly Reed and William Green married Annis Fortner and they might have migrated with the Griffiths. my gggrandmother Elenor Green married John Griffith. The Griffiths also came same migration route NC> Tenn >to Shelby co two of the Griffiths Obadiah and Tolbert I just recently found out, migrated to Texas after 1850. Bruce is between Windsor & Allenville, off RTs 121/32, west of Mattoon & north of Windsor. GOLDIE BAKER, b. 3/1/1885, Stewardson, married our JAMES ISAAC RANKIN, 3/11/1903 in Shelby Co., IL. They later moved to Viewfield, SD. I'm not sure of her parents' names. This JAMES RANKIN was the son of GEORGE M. & ELIZABETH SEXSON RANKIN. Also, in an early History of Hickory Co, MO, "the Galmey Store was built in 1901 by GEORGE MARTIN for ELIJAH PARKHURST". I'm working on connecting this Elijah Parkhurst to the Shelby Co, IL Elijah Parkhurst who m. SALLY H. OWENS, 10/29/1833 in Shelby Co., IL. I'm not sure yet if this George Martin connects to Shelby Co, IL.
