Thank you for your assistance. I must unsub-scribe as I just don't have time to read and discard the multitude of e-mails between individuals. I wonder why they don't just e-mail each other rather than going thru rootweb.com.? Charles H Fankboner
Susan I accept your apology & I do understand what you are talking about. What I meant by finding it on line is how easy it was to come by. I live in TX & before the internet would not have been able to access the will or the bible records that were put on-line. I do not do my research on line but do use the wonderful work that has been done by the people who spend many hours working & putting things out there so we can use them. I have a hard time in the area I live in finding material on the IL. area. It does worry me that so many will look at the DAR records & just accept them as totally correct & find later they have the wrong ancestor. I guess when this happens to your own ancestor it does upset you. Pat Oates in TX. Hi Ron: I don't know if The Heady family were members of the Methodist Church or not, I'm not even sure that the Baines weren't. I thought they might be but so far no proof, again thanks for the information on the Heady family. Thanks, Sue. Now all I have to do is find the address and write a check. Since almost everyone in that branch of the family was "there then" it would be of interest even if they are not identified by name. My grandmother never talked about Illinois until one of her daughters persuaded her to write a bit of history. She was 85 at the time and it is brief, but quite a teaser. How I wish I hadn't been one of the youngest of her grandchildren! Thanks again for the info. LYNN in AZ
Sue, Thanks for checking for me. Sharlene
This is a good list I have no problems with it ever I do have a problem with the DAR messages going back and forth. I am glad that it seems resolved. I just happened to open those DAR messages. In the future if you have a problem with someone send those emails to them individually not on Shelby Co IL mail list. The problem I see has been resolved. I believe everyone should be treated with respect no matter what and everyone will be treated with respect on the Shelby Co IL mail list. I dont need any responses to this message as this is all that needs to be said. Enjoy the mail list and happy researching Tim Casey Shelby Co IL mail list
Will look for Boedecker address. Think I have it tucked in one of the books. Back to you when I have found it. You are welcome. Her brother Scott fell to his death from the roof of the Methodist Church during its construction. He is buried in Tower Hill Cemetery. I assumed he was a member, but guess not? Ron
Okay, Let me out, ya'll are to juvenile for me!
Sue and others, Would anyone be willing to check "The History of Tower Hill" index for: Morrow, York, Staley, Armstrong, Allen, Davis? I have not sent in a surname check since I discovered many of those, so I guess it also applies to .... Anyone have connections to Morrow, York, Staley, Armstrong, Allen, Davis in the Shelby/Moultrie border area (or anywhere, for that matter! I seem to be dropped off by Martians! ;)) Thanks! I got mine at the Shelby County Historical and Genealogical Society when I visited them last October. You can email them and see if it is still available. I think the cost was around $5. It does have a surname index. And Lynn, your Pugh, Gross and Inman families are listed. I have misplace the name of Rachel Brownlee's relatives from Shelby County, IL. Rachel was my 2nd great grandmother. We seem to have finally traced her husband, Andrew J Fryman/Friman, back to his birth name and parents. Andrew and Rachel were married in Shelby County in 1864. After his serve in the Civil War for both sides. Long story. If anyone knows this family please have them get in touch with me. [email protected] they may have e-mail as [email protected] Virginia Taylor for SD/ND __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? If any one has a copy of the 1870 Census for Shelby County, would appreciate a lookup for William Knox and Mary E. They were married in 1869 in Shelby County. William was previously married to a Nancy Preston who died in 1868. William and Mary Elizabeth are my gggrandparents. Thank you for your assistance. Edna
