Beardstown Illinoisan, Beardstown, Cass County, Illinois; May 14, 1895; page 1 column 5; at bottom. Levi Fulk, a resident on Monroe Street, between Eleventh and Twelfth, died on Friday last at the age of seventy-three years. He had been failing for some time, but not bedfast until the past few days. His son, Charlie Maro started putting an "s" on the end of Fulk so it was spelled "Fulks". Mom said they laughed and thought they were putting on airs. Grandfather Alva Roudebush said he was told that Levi had 7 brothers and father (others say 3 or 4 brothers) that fought for the South in the Civil War. That they were overseers on plantation. We haven't found any prove. Said that Levi was paid to marry Elizabeth and that he had to go off and get a divorce before he could do it. Grandfather Alva thought it was New Orleans but no one knows for sure. Said they changed Robert Franklin's birth year.
