He was the son of Anne Catherine (GERARDY), who had married John Henry EIFERT, after Phillip's father's death. Children born to them were Cora Alice and Henry Nicholas, who died as infants, *Charles Estes, who married Emilla PHILLIPS, on 03 Jan 1895, and Katherine Elizabeth, who married John Thomas CLAYTON in 1891. Phillip SHELTS married 2nd, on 23 Sept 1879, Sarah (RHODES) LAWSON, a widow with 3 small children. She died in 1880, in childbirth. Phillip SHELTS married 3rd, on 29 Aug 1886, in Missouri Lucy Jane PHILLIPS, and brought her back to his home in the Brooklyn area of Schuyler Co. Children born to them were William Francis, married Lena GUINN, Mildren Estella, who married Howard HOLMES, Ethel who married Bert CHAPMAN, Lillie, who died in a farming accident at age 3, and Archie L, who married Esther WELLS.
