    2. I would not say that there was a disconnect with the MANLOVES. As late as the early 1900s Gilbert Beebe Manlove published a genealogy of the decendednts of William MANLOVE d: 1808 Guilford, N.C. I believe that I have managed to connect all the Manlove decendents This is the earliest lines. 1 MARK MANLOVE b: 1613 in Shropshire, Eng.-Liber 9. 3. Towards the bottom is a list of poeple who bought things at this estate sell. Many of them are from Schuyler County including my direct line ancestor, Robert Aten. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: [ILLINOIS] Names from estate papers Date: Tue, 9 Feb 1999 18:59:57 +0100 From: Carolyn Atkinson <catkinsn@ECITY.NET> Reply-To: catkinsn@ecity.net To: ILLINOIS-ROOTS-L@LISTSERV.INDIANA.EDU Hi, I LOVE estate papers from IL. Really dig into what was sold at the estate. Take great care in collecting the names of those who purchased items at the estate auction, especially the land sales. Tradition was that first choices always went to the immediate family and then extended family before anyone else purchased anything. Land was usually purchased by family also. In one important link in my direct ancestry, that was MY CLUE!! My William Hays purchased a wooden barrel for $2! In the estate papers I received from the county in Fulton, they NEGLECTED TO send me ONE page. The disbursement. So when I did not see my William in any of the papers they sent me originally, I dismisssed this family. However, as I learned more in research, I went back and looked again, and with more knowledge, I saw the names of those I knew as son in laws and cousins names. So I went back and did more checking with census and such. I also made a contact that went and looked at the microfilm records, and sure enough, there was a disbursement paper, and the courthouse had neglected to microfilm it! My William Hays was on it, and thus I gained another set of grandparents. Now if I could ONLY find a WILLIAMS family who had a daughter Julia Ann Williams Hays who died and left 4 children, Emaline, Almira, Lamira and Thomas J Hays! Julia was married to William Hays. As for the estate sale, I have connected almost every name on it to my family some way or another. So just in case, here they are--- FULTON CO, VERMONT TWP, IL sale bill in the estate of James Hays, deceased filed this 15th day of March 1867. approved March 22/1867, recorded in book C page 279. 3. In response to Carol Miller's e-mail: The Manloves go back a long way in Guilford and Rowan Counties NC. It's a well researched family; in fact, I believe there's a published genealogy out on the family in NC. Interestingly, there has been a giant disconnect between the NC and the IL branches, and the NCs know little about what happened to their ancestors' siblings, etc. after they "disappeared" from NC. If you have info on your first Manlove ancestors into Illinois, you might want to post to the Guilford County NC mail list on Rootsweb. I also wonder if someone could tell me where to find "Robin's page." I am very interested in Rushville happenings. 3. Hi everyone, Carol, thanks for mentioning the Schuyler Co. ILGenweb site! We're trying hard to put new information online every day. Which brings me to asking the subscribers on this list for help. Without your input and suggestions, I can't know what you want included on the website. As Sara mentioned in her letter, we are working together to get as much information online as possible. Our plan is not to duplicate material. As an example - Sara is putting online the biographies published in the 1882 history of Schuyler and Brown Counties, while I will start adding the biographies from the 1892 Biographical Review of Cass, Schuyler and Brown Counties. Sara will have the marriage indexes, while I will have births. Our hope is that you, as researchers, will use both sites! There must be other Schuyler County sites out there, too, that I'm not aware of! Please let me know so I can include a link on the GenWeb site. Please feel free to offer your suggestions!! Take care, Robin robin@firedragon.com http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilschuyl Schuyler County ILGenWeb Coordinator

    3. Hi Listers: To Pat who was asking about diseases in Schuyler Co. I will include at the bottom of this note what I have found relating to the diseases. It seems to be an earlier time frame than what you were asking about, tho. Robin is doing a great job on her page, the diseases will be included in the Rushville History. A lot of the other histories have been posted, along with lots of other new things. If you haven't checked out her pages yet, then do so! The histories aren't all up yet, but keep checking, a new one has been posted about every day. She has other items of intersest that has been newly added to her list! Also, to the ones researching the Manlove surname. In the county histories, I have seen that name mentioned a lot! The cholera in July, 1834, swooped down with its pinion of death and proved a besom of destruction to many in the Rushville settlement. The town then contained seven or eight hundred inhabitants, and so virulent was the disease that most of them fled to other parts of the country. Only about three hundred were left to take care of the sick and dying. Over a hundred afflicted, and nearly one half proved fatal. Happy Hunting, Carol

That way when we want to print out the data, we don't have to print out all of the email address too. Thank you. Do you folks take credit card donations? If yes, can we do it on a secure server?
