Hello, Can anyone give me any information on the surname Scripps, most particular G.H. Scripps, around the time of 1849. From research, I've found that the name Scripps is fairly prominent in Schuyler County. I do know that some of the Scripps had one of the local news-papers, but I haven't be able to find any information on G.H., as to him or his profession. I greatly appreciate your assistance Timothy Fowler
Trying to find age of Rachel BRYANT/BRIANT, who married Samuel STAMBAUGH, in Schuyler Co. IL on 19 April 1840. Need any info on connection, if any, between Bryant and Stambaugh families. Were next door neighbors on 1865 (I think) state census. Any info appreciated. Thanks Mary Bryant Park crosstich@webtv.net
Hi Everyone: I would love to exchange info with anyone working on the Issac and Sarah Hiatt family, Paul and Lydia Manlove Daniels and Nancy Manlove families. Issac and Sarah were in Schuyler Co., 1840 then moved on to McDonough Co. Paul and Lydia stayed in Schuyler Co. until their deaths in 1899 and 1891 respectively. Nancy was the mother of Sarah, Lydia and Rebecca (who married William Spiva). Nancy was living with Paul and Lydia on the 1850 census and was 76 years old. I have never been able to locate when and where she died. I assume that she must have been buried on the farm in Littleton where Paul and Lydia lived. Have lots of info to share. Debbie

This is a copy of an article in the paper this week. I thought I would pass this along to anyone interested. Numbers are posted below. The Schuyler Jail Museum Board has decided to proceed with a new addition. It will connect to the present building on the south side of the museum and will consist of one story measuring 24 feet X 90 feet. The addition will be used to showcase more Schuyler Co. artifacts which represents the county's past, present and future. The board will seek monetary donations instead of having a series of fund raisers. The museum receives no tax money from Schuyler Co., the City of Rushville, or the State of IL. All donations are tax deductible. A list of every donation received will be kept and any contribution will be greatly appreciated. A plaque will be displayed in the new room listing all donors of $200.00 or more. The museum is open every day form 1-5p.m. All of our workers are volunteers. If you wish to donate to the new addition please call 217/322-6975 to ask who to contact with your donation, Thank you Sarah R

List members - Please forgive me if this is off subject but a recent URL that was posted to one of my lists led me to this article which I felt should be shared. The subject of how dates were recorded prior to the year 1752 in different countries has recently become an issue in my research and i just wanted to let others know about this article that explains when the changes in the calendars occurred for each country from Julian to Gregorian, etc. It also explains how historians noted this change in their record books to help clarify for those of you who have reached this period in your family histories. Click here: Old Style and New Style Dates the url for those not on AOL: http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/dates.html Thanks for your time and I hope some of you find this information useful. Hi, I am trying to find the parents of Josiah Fowler, born about 1820 in Kentucky, and lived in Littleton Twp from about 1840 to 1855. It is possible that his father is Thomas J. Fowler, born about 1790 in Tennessee, and lived in Brooklyn Twp from 1835 to about 1870. If anyone has any information on either of these people, I would love to hear from you. Thanks very much.
