    1. Huldah FAGAN's Photos Displayed
    2. The Wise Family
    3. Hello, A few days ago, I published some photos from the collection of Bernice SECKMAN. Today I've added an "album" of portraits and pictures that belonged to Huldah STOFFER (FAGAN). When Bernice SECKMAN (STOFFER) of Rushville, IL died, some of her photos went to her sister-in-law, Huldah STOFFER (FAGAN) in Wayne County, Iowa. That collection came to me and I am posting them as I can on a web site. There may be someone you know there. You may have been looking for a picture of them for a long time. Come and take a look. Take time to leave a few words in the guestbook. If you recognize a photo, please let me know so I can label it appropriately. Don't just visit once! Come often! I'll be posting them as I get them scanned and uploaded. Click on the link: http://members2.clubphoto.com/frank170540/ Or cut the address and paste it to your browser Happy Hunting, Frank W. 3. My great uncle Ralph and Aunt Bernice had no children, so no living descendants. My father, Robert STOFFER was sent to spend the summer with his uncle and aunt each year from the time he was 4. When my grandmother, Huldah STOFFER (FAGAN), died last year 3 weeks before her 101st birthday, my aunt went through her things and, last month, gave my mother and me anything she didn't want. In that package were many pictures that could only have been Bernice's. There may be many more pictures of your family in the box we received. We have over a hundred portraits and many, many loose pictures. There is also a very old album that belonged to Huldah's sister, Lena HUGHES (FAGAN) including some tin-types. Ralph SECKMAN was born 16 August 1883, s/o George Adolphus SECKMAN and Bernice 19 December 1895, both in Brown County, IL. They were married 9 September 1919 at the home of her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Otis STOFFER near Ripley, IL, by the Rev O.P. WRIGHT of the Ripley Christian Church. The lived in Schuyler County for 27 years. Ralph was a farmer while Bernice taught school. They moved to Ontario, CA when I was little. Ralph died May 1978 in Ontario, California. Bernice died August 1985 in Pomona, California. Ralph and Bernice had no children. My father considered Ralph and Bernice as second parents. He named his first born son Ralph in honor of his favorite uncle. I am still reading through all the journals and albums I received. My husband will be scanning and posting more photos soon. 1. Schuyler Co. page - help needed
    2. Robin Petersen
    3. Hi everyone, Is there anyone who would like to try their hand at writing a "how-to" article on genealogical research? I would like to add a page to the Schuyler site which would include all the pertinent links and articles for genealogical research, and think a "how-to" article, specifically designed with Schuyler County in mind, would be a great addition. If you haven't visited the Schuyler County ILgenWeb site in awhile, there are quite a few changes. The first book of Birth Records is complete, and I've started adding Death Records from 1877. The search engine was just updated - thank goodness! The company has just redesigned it so one can upload without tying up the computer for hours to upload. We will update the search engine more often now. As always, we need your input...not only for ideas of what you would like to see on the page..more history?...more lists?...more links?...but also your contributions of family lines, obits, marriages, etc. For those of you who don't know, I've also volunteered as coordinator for the McDonough ILGenWeb site, and have been busy working on getting township and church histories online. Many Schuyler families are mentioned in the histories, so you might want to check them out. Unfortunately, McDonough, being young, doesn't have a search engine yet! Take care everyone... 2. Searching for any of the listed surnames from around Rushville and Springfield, IL. My ggggrandparents were: John LAWYER married Eliza Jane SCHAFFER around 1855 in Springfield. John's birthdate was January 24, 1834. He died on May 16, 1913 in Washington State. Eliza Jane's birthdate was April 16, 1837. Her parents were Samuel SCHAFFER and Harriet EMERICK. They were from Rushville. Eliza Jane died on May 11, 1924 in Washington State. They had six children; Nancy Mathilda (my gggrandmother), Amanda, William, Dora, Tinee, Henry. The first two children were born in Springfield, and the other four were born around Woodlawn, Washington. Nancy was born on May 30, 1857. Apparently she went back to Springfield to marry a man named SHAW. No information on him. Nancy had my ggrandmother, Lida on December 14, 1874. SHAW either died or she divorced him and moved back to Washington. There she met Albert MOE and had four more children. Nancy died on April 27, 1935. They are all buried in Washington State except for Lida and Robert. Lida married my ggrandfather Robert SLEIGHT. They are buried in Portland, Oregon. Thanks, Julie Hendrix

It also gives instructions on ordering official copies of military records via snail mail. By cross-referencing this database with the Andersonville database, I was able to determine the first name of a Craig ancestor who died at Andersonville but whose first name we did not know. I now know his grave number, date of death and most importantly his first name....Simeon. Another good Illinois site is Illinois Public Domain Land Tract Sales http://www.sos.state.il.us/depts/archives/data_lan.html This gives data on land sale transactions and is searchable. Official copies are available by mail. I recently discovered a possible land purchase by one of the five wives of my Richard Craig (that's right, folks, FIVE wives!) Am still researching this one.
