Lyman Thornton b ca 1808 married Margaret Cox in 1833 Jefferson Co Ind. Margaret Cox's parents and some siblings moved to Sangamon Co Illinois by 1836. Maybe there were some Thorntons that came with them, however, Lyman and Margaret stayed in Jefferson Co Ind and are buried there. Let me know if you think this may be part of your family.
