According to the Galena Foundation brochure on John Turney, a Galena lawyer, it stated a mansion-type home in Springfield was built by the Turney family around 1835, that in 1974 it was still standing (with Potters living there?) and that the house was mentioned in "Historic Homes of Springfield, Illinois" Does any one know of the house or the historic homes book? Or about the John Turney family? His wife was an Arnett, his son William lived in Springfield, in 1870s he brought his father's body from Galena to Springfield for re-burial near Lincoln.
