I am uncertain as to John VANCIL's parentage; there was a Samuel VANCIL in Auburn Towship who arrived in Sangamon County about 1818 and died in 1828. He would seem to be a possibility for John's father. John & Lydia VANCIL had 11 children and I do know they moved to Hempstead in Nevada County, Arkansas, seemingly following their daughter, Susan Tamsen who md. Isaac MOORE. Prior to going to Arkansas they were in Hancock and/or Henderson counties in Illinois. John died while visiting a daughter in St. Louis and is supposed to be buried in the Bellefontaine Cemetery, but I have not verified the burial site. Lydia supposedly went to Idaho to visit a daughter, Rose Anna, and died and is buried there - this is also unverified but gives you a place to search. A New Colonia Family History by Evelyn V.
