    3. Denise, IRAD (University of Illinois at Springfield) has naturalization records filed both in County and Circuit courts. They are classified by year (both declarations of intent and final papers), so you do need to know the date they came. Have you tried Federal Census information from Sangamon County, Illinois? For instance, my great-grandfather came over here with his family from England between in the late 1800's. But, knowing where they were in 1900 (Chicago), I checked the census and there were some questions of naturalization (yes or no) and when arrived. In his case, it was 1882. Do you know when they came to Sangamon county? The men I am looking for settled in Sangamon County and I assume that I might find their Naturalization Papers there. Is it possible to order these papers without a date of Naturalization? Is there an index for Naturalization Papers? Do you have an address and telephone number of the office I should write to? Do you know what the cost might be? After coming to many "brickwalls" regarding their voyages to America - I'm hoping that I might find some more information in these Naturalization Records. Thank you for your assistance. - Denise Landwehr (Colorado) ==== ILSANGAM Mailing List ==== New - 4th Presbyterian Church INDEX, Springfield, IL http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilsangam/church.htm
