Joseph Hilyard born 29 April 1771 [don't know for sure where]married 10 Nov. 1796 Kanawha Co.Va. To Elizabeth Morris. They both died in Jackson Co. Ia. She Mar. 1842 and he June 9, 1848. They first settled in Sangamon Co. ILL. They came here with their oldest Son , John Morris Hilyard born Jan.30, 1798 in Cabel Co.Va.He married Mary [Polly] Gray. In the early 1820's. And some of their children. Most all of their children were born after arriving here. Then John M.Hilyard and family moved to Macoupin Co.IL. And settled in a Twp. named after him. Hilyard Twp.
