    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Miller, Hanon, Sharp, Bishop, Badger, Huffman, Hayward, Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/xg.2ADI/2571 Message Board Post: Miller, Hanon Sharp and allied families from Christian and Sangamon Counties. Here is what I know about these families, Samuel Miller moved from his native State Virginia, to Kentucky, where he grew to manhood in Christian County Kentucky. In 1822, he moved to Illinois and settled in South Fork Township. He married Hannah Hanon (Hainen), born 1799 in South Carolina, she died in 1866. Samuel died October 1833. They were the parents of the following children: Sallie, Melinda, Isaac, Daniel, Martin, Levi, Elijah, Jane, Eli, Charles, and two who died in infancy. The widow of Samuel Miller, instituted a suit against Jesse Hanon, Sr., to compel a more faithful administration of his trust. ELIJAH A. MILLER married Miss Jane S. Bishop, who was born in Rochester, N. Y., August 6, 1830. Six children were born to our them. Ada, whose birth occurred in April, 1855, is the wife of H. J. Huffman, who is a school teacher in Seward County, Neb.; Henry died November 30, 1866; Annie died in infancy; Jennie, born October 22, 1862, became the wife of O. E. Badger, a Methodist minister; Fannie, wife of A. J. Hayward, a farmer of Taylorville Township, was born July 6, 1864; and Alice, the youngest of the family, born July 8, 1866, died September 19, 1869. Daniel Miller was a man familiarly known to the early settlers, and was well remembered by many of the citizens of the county. He was born in Kentucky, in 1818, and at the age of five years came with his father's family to this county. Daniel died November 09, 1848. In the case of Shumway, adm'r of Daniel Miller, deceased vs. John Cheney, Lincoln and Vandeveer appeared for the plaintiff. and Judge Robbins of Springfield for the defendant. The wife of Martin Hanon, whose maiden name was Sarah Miller, (there are two different versions) was born in Pennsylvania, her people being of German birth. Her parents came to America after their marriage, settling in Pennsylvania, where the father died in middle life. To Mr. and Mrs. Hanon were born ten children, only four of the number now living 1893: Jesse; Joseph; Susan, wife of G. R. Sharp, of Sharpsburg, Ill.; and Elijah, who is a resident of Learned, Kan. Joseph lives at Willow Springs, Mo. The parents were members of the Predestinarian Baptist Church. This Sarah Miller may have been related to Samuel Miller. Martin Hanon, was married in Kentucky to Sarah Miller, who died in 1861. Martin Hanon went down into Egypt [Kentucky], and was married in Shawneetown on the 10th of October, 1823 to Miss Sallie Miller, was Sallie, a nickname for Sarah?. There is a good chance descendants still live in Christian or Sangamon Counties. The Iodence line came from Jane Miller.
