    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Shain Turpin Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/xg.2ADI/1966.1.3 Message Board Post: Hi Sue, I can't help much with your "little Brown Jugs", but I can tell you that my husband decends from Elizabeth ( 1820 -Oct 1872) Shain's brother Thomas R. Shain. (Thomas was one of the first settlers in Harrison County, Missouri). I don't have much on Emanuel Jones (except that his brother's were James and John ~this information was found in a big red book "Family Records of Philip Hupp and Mary Buzzard..............Thomas Shain and Cythia Bridges....." by W. Flora Shepherd) This book also said that Emanuel was born in Fleming, KY, went to Sangamon City, Illinios with his eldest brother James in 1831, and at 55 yars of age, married Emeline Shain, April 20, 1848. I was wondering if you could answer a question for me... Do you know anything about John Shain? Mostly about his parents. I was told (in the above book) that John , b. abt 1780 near the mouth of Kanawah River, (married Mary Turpin b. 1786) d. 4 Sept 1846 in Kentucky. Mary moved to Harrison County Missouri after John's death. (Most, if not all, of the children of John and Mary moved to Harrison County, Missouri). Do you know when the Shains moved to Sangamon County? Thanks! Stacy
