Thank you for sharing this with me. I just rechecked my chapter on Sangamon County, regarding the McKinney settlement. In one of the church records we have (probably the records of Salem Sugar Creek church, which date back to 1830), there is mention in the minutes in 1837 of a request being received by brethren living in McKinney's settlement for help to organize a church which was granted. I haven't been able to match this church up with any of the 19 churches in the Sangamon Association at that time. I would indeed like to know the exact location of the cemetery, and if there are names of the burials it might help me determine which church name we are actually talking about. If the McKinney's granddaughter married Chester Carpenter's son, we must be talking about some folks who were born back in the 1700's again.
