According to the 1910 Census he was boarding with Vincent Platkoski. John was born in Lithuania and immigrated to Illinois. He could be related to my Great Grandfather (Andreas Cibirka, or Czibirka, Chibinea or Dzibirka) or may have come from the same town. I am hoping to locate the parish, probably a Lithuanian Roman Catholic Church in the ED 122. Any information about him would be greatly appreciated. Or if someone could identify Someplace where I could research this information We would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Veronica Kurdziel Farlow and Geraldine Cibirka Kurdziel
Veronica, I have some information to help locate his parish. Did you know that the Catholic church publishes a yearly directory (since 1833) called "The Official Catholic Directory". This volume contains every single priest, religious, parish and other similar stats in the country. You might ask a look-up from the Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic Archives at info@chgocatholicarchives.org Also, the Catholic church maintains a web site regarding specifically to locating diocese and parish information. The main site address is http://home.att.net/~Local_Catholic/ The site address for the diocese of Springfield, Illinois is http://www.dio.org/ and for their parishes online http://home.att.net/~Local_Catholic/CatholicUS-ChicagoIL.htm At the last address, scroll down the page till you reach it as it lists all the dioceses in Illinois. I hope this helps in your quest.
