    1. [ILSANGAM-L] WIEDENKELLER
    2. My newfound gg uncle John Samuel WIEDENKELLER was born in Switzerland about 1837....emigrated to the USA about 1857...apparently settled in Greenville, Sangamon County, Illinois. That is the city he used as his place of residence when he signed on to fight with a Sangamon County regiment during the Civil War. He entered as a private (1861) in the 14th Illinois Infantry Regiment, Company G and was mustered out on June 18, 1864 as a Corporal. His half brother (John Jacob FATZER) is my gg grandfather. Their mother, Maria (KASER) FATZER, was first married to a WIEDENKELLER. She is buried in the Langley Cemetery in Christian County. According to the 1870 Christian County census, John Samuel WIEDENKELLER was living in Taylorville, Christian County just a stone's throw from the FATZER family. John was living with his wife Margaretta (can't make out the last name) and a one year old son named Frederick. Census locator data: family #17, line #37, page 2. A "dogpile.com" search found some WIEDENKELLERs still living in the area. I am looking for descendents of the John and Margaretta WIEDENKELLER. ...Margaretta's maiden name (if anyone can read it) would be a bonus! Thanks! - Tom Wilson Boca Raton, FL
