Sally, I do find a Matthew P Crowder and Jane Crowder as members of Salem Sugar Creek church (we have a copy of the records of this church), which was organized in 1830, in the vicinity of the State Police Headquarters near Lake Springfield (I think I can point to the exact spot where the church once stood).
