He was in probate court in Sangamon Co in 1827 as age 19, petitioning the court to appoint John Brannen as his guardian, although his father, William Pate was in attendance in the court. He was married at least twice - to Eliza Davis and then Eliza's sister, Nancy Jane Davis Garret and had at least seven children with the two women. He's listed in the 1855 state census in Macon Co IL, but then disappears. Need his death date, place and burial. Did he actually marry another time after Nancy Jane died in 1851/2?
