He is loving remembered by his wife of 54 years, Gisela; son Ronald McLerren of Auburn, CA, daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Lilburn and Kirk Stoffel of Highland, CA; grandchildren, Heather, Rachel, Kyle and Case and great-grandchildren Colby, Chase and Chandler. He will be remembered by all who knew him for his sense of humor, warm smile and his never-ending enthusiasm for life. George was born August 1, 1924, in Springfield, IL and recently celebrated his 80th birthday. He served for over twenty-five years in the Armed Forces, earning a Bronze Star and Presidential Citation in World War II. He remained on active duty for both the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. After 18 years of civil service at Norton Air Force Base, George went on to a career in Real Estate, retiring in 1999. George and Gisela have lived in the high desert for over 40 years and are members of the Ascension Lutheran Church where George served as an Elder. Prior to Ascension he was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he served as President and Elder. Services will be held Saturday, September 4, 2004 at 11 AM at Ascension Lutheran Church with graveside services immediately following at Sunset Hills Memorial Park, 24000 Waalew Road in Apple Valley. Services will be officiated by Rev. Houschild and Rev. Quandt. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the George McLerren Memorial Fund, c/o Ascension Lutheran Church, 22130 Ottowa Road, Apple Valley, CA 92308 NOTE: Submitter is not related in any way to deceased.
