Martin Charles F. Martin 88, of Spring-field died at 5:25 p.m. Thursday at Doctors Hospital. He was born March 13, 1902, in Jasper, Ohio, the son of John D. and Delilah Russell Martin. He married Flora Sehy in 1929 and she preceded him in death in 1981. Also preceding him in death were three sisters and five brothers. Mr. Martin retired from International Harvester Company in 1959, where he was a district credit manager. From 1960 to 1973 he was chief adult probation officer for Sangamon County and assistant director of Court Services. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. A well known questioned document examiner for nearly 40 years, he was founder and past president of Independent Association of Questioned Document Examiners, past member of International Association for Identification, American Society of Criminology, Illinois Academy of Criminology and a charter member of Illinois Association for Identification, member of Illinois Police Association and Downtown Kiwanis Club of Springfield. Surviving are four daughters, Lila, Mary and Patricia Martin, all of Springfield and Mrs. Merle (Betty) King of Springfield; two sons, Charles R. Martin of Springfield and John W. Martin of Buffalo, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Church, with the Rev. Hugh Cassidy officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
