She was first married to a Huggins; I got her maiden name of Patton from a book in WV about William Jarrett (gave names of his wife's parents). I'm sorry, but I cannot prove the relationships advanced in Renner's book. I do believe Ann (m Hodgerson) was a daughter of Charles and his second wife. The evidence is circumstantial, but good considering her name Alsbury and that Charles and Jane were living with this couple later in life. As to accepting that Charles is the son of Thomas and brother to another Thomas... I am not convinced. I think it is very possible, but Renner's evidence seems to confirm only a close connection, not parentage. As we all do, Renner drew some tentative conclusions based on what she could find. I have identified several errors in her book, but I've simply not spent enough time looking at original WV/VA records to help beyond the generation of Charles II (as she named him). I will gladly share what I have, but don't know how much I can help. Most of my recent research has been concentrated on the Tucker line (Brice Alsbury m Rachel Tucker). I need to do more on the other descendants of Charles and Jane Alsbury, just have not yet done so. I do believe there are other descendants because there are names I cannot identify in the family hairbook (it includes the 1st two generations of descendants of Brice and Rachel, also siblings of Brice and siblings of Rachel, along with some! of their children). Do you have information on the marriages of the female descendants of Ann? If those names are in the hairbook, that is pretty much conclusive evidence of familial ties. Jennifer, You mention a book about William Jarrett. What book is that? I am interested because I am descended from his sister Mary and husband William Sexton. They moved with William and the other Jarrett family members to Sangamon County in the late 1820's.
