Where do you find the date of death on individuals who died after 1947? My greatgrandmother's sisters, Fannie M. Dyke and Mabel C. Long were both still alive in Sangamon County when their sister Jessie P Pritchard died in 1953 in California. They appear to have died before the automated Social Security Death Index, so I assume they died somewhere between 1953 and the late 1960's. Fannie Pilcher Dyke also appears to have married after 1900. I have pictures of her and her son but none of her husband. In all the newspaper clipping I have that mention her, her husband's given name is never mentioned. She's always referred to as Mrs. Fannie Dyke while her older sister is referred to as Mrs James Long until she was widowed. If anyone out there is related to these two ladies, I have my grandmother's pictures and some clippings from her bible I'm willing to share. E A Broughton etfoam@inreach.com
The state of Illinois Bureau of Vital Statistics would have this information if you give them a fairly close range of dates (say about a 10-year span). Go to: http://vitalrec.com and click on the Illinois link to get the information. There are also links to the forms needed to send and they can be printed out. Good luck! Also try the Lincoln Library to see if they have obituaries for this period (i.e. in Sangamon county).
