The Sangamon County Genealogical Society will conduct a Research/Open House Day on Saturday February 10 from 9 am to 1 pm at the society's office 2856 South 11th Street in Springfield, Illinois. The office is located at the corner of 11th and Knox about three blocks north on 11th Street from Stevenson Drive and the same distance from Bunn Park. Members of the society's board will be on hand to answer research questions and the library will be available to those who wish to research their family's history. We have microfilmed copies of Sangamon County birth (1877-1916), marriage (1821-1925) and death certificates (1877-1940s) available to view as well as surname and obituary files and the Auburn Citizen and other newspapers on microfilm. Come learn how to research information about your relatives in old newspapers. Everyone is welcome to visit. A $2.00 donation is suggested. Please also remember we will be open every Tuesday night in January and February to aid in your family history research.
