Obituary - Athens Free Press, 29 May 1964 EMERY C. JENSEN, 79, DIES MONDAY, MAY 25, SPRINGFIELD; LONGTIME RESIDENT HERE Emery C. Jensen, 79, a resident of Athens since childhood, died at the Americana Nursing Center in Springfield, Monday afternoon, May 25, at 4:00 p.m. He had been in gradually failing health for many months. For many years he was manager of the Athens Farmer Elevator and Lumber Company and a stockholder in the firm. Since the business was sold, he has been on the retired list. Surviving him are the widow, Esther; two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Brittin of Havana and Mrs. Helen Shannon of Athens; two sons, Carl Chris of Brimfield and Charles O. of Athens; two brothers, Arthur of Athens and Harry A. of Springfield; one sister, Mrs. Daisy Short of Orange City, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday from the Mott and Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Charles Embree, pastor of Athens Christian Church, of which Mr. Jensen was a member, conducting the service. Interment was made in Hall cemetery.
