Obituary - Athens Free Press, 23 May 1952 MRS. J. H. CANTERBURY, 91, CANTRALL RESIDENT, DIES Mrs. J. H. Canterbury, 91, a long-time resident of Cantrall and prominent in the affairs of the community until recent years, passed away in Memorial Hospital on Friday, May 16, where she had been a patient for several days. She was the widow of the late John H. Canterbury, who passed away in 1946, and the mother of Clair E. and J. Harold Canterbury, both of the Cantrall community. She was a charter member of Cantrall's Women's Club and a member of the West Side Christian Church in Springfield. Those to survive are the two sons, Clair E. and J. Harold Canterbury, both of Cantrall: seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Services were held Sunday afternoon at the Mott and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Roland Florence, pastor of the Athens Christian Church, in charge. Burial was made in Indian Point cemetery.
