This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Miller, Hall, Potts, Harper, Haney, Baker, Robertson, Parkinson, Carson, Dodd, Jones, Bingham, Templeton Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/xg.2ADI/2562 Message Board Post: Generally speaking, genealogists are often born, when a family member passes on to us an old collection of family photos or history. Maybe some of the photos are identified, but who are the ones that aren't? If you have photos of great aunts, uncles or cousins, then you have photos of someone's grandparents that they may not have. I am working on a project that will pull together the research, photos and other pertinent information for the families listed below. The end result will be a CD (or set of) that we can all pass down. If you're not a descendant of the families listed below, but you're family is from the Loami/Chatham area, email me anyway. Any family of the area that was there for any amount of time is connected in some way. If the response is strong over the next year or two, I'll be looking for individuals willing to manage their own family project and share with other coordinators. My project includes- The descendants of: Jacob Miller and Lucinda Potts Henry Hall and Sarah "Sallie" Harper George Washington Jacobs and Nancy Haney Thomas Baker and Nancy Robertson John B. Campbell and Lavina Parkinson John Starrett Carson and Margery Parkinson Charles Scott Dodd and Mary Templeton "Polly" Jones Joshua Bingham Jones, Sr and Edna Bingham or Joshua Bingham Jones, Sr. and Mary "Polly" Templeton I have set up an online Photo Album to kick off the project at: Miller~Campbell Family Album http://gentishammond.myphotoalbum.com/albums.php I decided to post here, because of something posted recently by Bill Smith on this board. He had a post about an old photo album that contained a name that piqued my interest: W. Miller. My 2nd great grandfather was William Gibson Miller. He sent me copies of some of the photos, for which I am very grateful. The photo he has of W. Miller is a Civil War photo of my ancestor. We didn't have a photo of him taken this early! The email address listed in my profile is current, but the address I use for my Sangamon County families is: [email protected] If either email changes, I will repost with the update.
You described me in the first paragraph. I have a Mary Jane Goings who married a Charles Gilpin, then married OS Campbell, then mrried a John Jennings. At one time I was corresponding with a person who researched Miller, and there seemed to be some connection between this Miller and Campbell. I'll search my notes tonight and get back to you. Anyway I have a pic -- must have been taken by a traveling photographer...shows the front of a large farmhouse with several people and horse in front. My grandmother has labled this pic as "Springfield Illinois". Mary Jane Goings is identified as Mary Jane Campbell A young woman is identified as Pearl Campbell. (I've never been able to find a Pearl in census) There are couple of other people - one is identified as farm hand. Mary Jane married Campbell in1886 and then married Jennings in about 1900. So I guess the pic was taken about 1886 - 96. I can share this ppic - I've always wondered if this house still exists. It might be easy to identify if it did exist. I know nothing about the OS (or OX) Campbell,,do you? Can share.
