Hanney 88, of Springfield died at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Haven Convalescent Center. She was born in St. Louis, Mo., on June 27, 1900, the daughter of John and Margaret Murphy Garvey. She married Leo Hanney in 1927, and he died in 1957. She was a resident of Springfield since 1927. Mrs. Hanney was a member of St. Joseph Church and LaFore Lock Post 755 VFW Auxiliary. Surviving are one son, John Balmer of Springfield; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Church, with the Rev. Ken Yarno, CSV, officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery. Staab Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
