Surnames: TURLEY, KENNEY, ROY, JOHNSTON Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/xg.2ADI/2597 Message Board Post: I am looking for proof of the whereabouts of the oldest son of James Turley and Mary B. Kenney, listed as J. Thos. on 1860 Census and as Thomas in 1870. I have not found proof of this in records, but some family researchers seem to think the son's first name was also James. I have successfully followed Thomas' siblings up into the 20th Century, which includes Ambrose, Ada B. m. Wm. W. Johnston, and Laura C. m. George W.Roy. The sister, Eliza A., has not been identified after 1880, where she is listed as a 17 year old single girl, living with her married sister, Ada, called Addie. The other brother, Charles H. has not been located since living at home with widowed mother in 1870. The reason it is important to locate THOMAS (Tom) TURLEY is in hopes to prove he was a victim of a Texas Range War, which came to be known as the Mason Co. HooDoo War, which raged in Texas in the 1870's. A 20 year old man, named Tom Turley, met unfortunate circumstances in 1875, at the hands of a lawless society. ALL that is known about this Tom Turley is his age, which is mentioned in Mason Co. records, and that he had light hair and blue eyes. ANY further information on Thomas or the rest of his family would be appreciated. Thanks. Karylon A. Russell, 201 Live Oak, Llano, TX 78643 [email protected]
