W. O. Withrow was Co. Supt. of Schools in Sangamon Co., IL for many years, and has an elementary school in Springfield named in his honor. He died several years ago. He was a tall, well built gentleman with white hair, and when he'd visit the old one-room schools, he would tell us (this was in the 40's) that he was part Indian. I'mnot sure which tribe.
