Posted on: Sangamon County, Il Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Il/Sangamon/1923 Surname: Orr, Nixon ------------------------- I am looking for information on the family of Robert ORR who came to Sangamon County, Illinois from Virginia by way of Ohio and Fayette County, Indiana. Robert ORR was born on 8 Jan 1790 in Wythe County, Virgina and married Sarah Messersmith in Tazewell County, Virgina. In about 1815 they moved to Ohio. Then in about 1817 they moved to Fayette County, Indiana. Finally settling in Sangamon County near the town of Auburn in 1826. Robert and Sarah had 9/10 children. If you know of or are researching this family, I would love to hear from you.
Bill You might try the "Early Settlers of Sangamon County" book. I may not remember correctly but I thought that they were mentioned. I have this information: William Orr b. 8 Feb, 1820 in Ohio m. Minervas J. Drennan [daughter of Ezekial N. and Mary Viney Drennan] on 29 Aug 1848 in Sangamon county, Illinois. William died 18 Feb 1912 in Adair county Missouri and is buried in Highland Park Cemetery. There children were Emma F., b. 1849; Henrietta E., b. 1852; Alfred R., b. 1855 and; Mary A., b. 1858. I do not know if William is from your Orr family but it seems to fit. Have you tried probate records for the Orr family via IRAD. If it is there, it might named the children.
