It looks like the actual book written in 1876 by John Carroll Power, but it is not in the best of shape. Still, it could be very valuable. The auction number is 200040986774 and will end on November 1st. I have no interest in this auction, but wanted to pass the information on to any researchers of Sangamon County.

Both parents were born in Ireland. Thomas was married to Nora Bell Woolary about 1896 and their children were James, Emmerson, Thomas, Rosella (Rose), Helen and Mary. All children were born in Illinois other than Helen, who was born in Kansas. Thomas and Nora are found in the Sangamon Illinois Census in 1900, 1920 and 1930. I've been unsuccessful in finding any info going further back on Thomas. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a newspaper photo and article about his death when the ship went down. I can scan it and send it to you as soon as I can get to it. George was a son of Clinton Stevens and Edna Antle of Sangamon Co., IL. They had 4 children, Imogene, Erma, Ruth and George Vernon. George Vernon Stevens was a GG-Grandson of Rev. John Antle and his wife, Elizabeth Buchanan Antle. His Great-Uncle, John Stevens was killed in Vicksburg, MS during the Civil War. I have much more to share, but not sure just how much you want. Please let me know. Alyce Beggs

No I am sorry to say the archives are not free. You have options if you want one archive or three and more. The sad part is I used to work there and most of the really older archives are at the Lincoln Library right near the Journal Register in the Sangamon Valley research area. They also have everything on microfilm at the library.
If you are a subscriber to SJ-R, the last 14 days are free, but that's it. ----- Original Message ----- From: <buttonsvh@psci.net> To: <ILSANGAM-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, October 17, 2006 1:14 PM Subject: [ILSANGAM] State Journal-Register, > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/xg.2ADI/2861 > > Message Board Post: > > Does anyone have a subscription to "The State Journal-Register" . Be sure to hie yourselves to Rochester, IL tomorrow, October 15, for their second annual cemetery walk. The hours are from 1 to 4 PM. Six early Rochester settlers will be featured. The Rochester cemetery is located just off Route 29. Coming from the west, turn right at the first stoplight at West Main (which joins E. Lake Drive near Springfield). The cemetery is approximately 1/2- 1 mile west on the north/right side of the road. While the cemetery walk is going on, the Rochester Historical Preservation Society will also host an open house at the Old Stone House, which is located nearby, just west of the Rochester Park, which is next door to the cemetery. Built in the 1830's, the stone house originally stood on Buckhart Road, which would have been the path Lincoln took to carry out his circuit work during those days. The road on which it now stands, was another road that Lincoln would have traveled when he left Springfield to head south east to try more cases on his circuit. Also included are some pioneer craft demonstrations - apple cider squeezing, spinning, quilting, chair seat weaving, and others. The public is cordially invited to share these moments in history with the Historical Society. Remember, on Sunday, October 15, all roads lead to Rochester.
