Bergschneider - As I recall there were/are any number of families by this name in the New Berlin area, and, I also believe they were of the Catholic faith. Not for sure, but perhaps a clue for you. My grandmother had a close friend by that name, but I can't remember her first name.
That's Dick, not George. <GG> George is another, shorter guy. :-)
Go take a look at this one! http://blog.eogn.com/eastmans_online_genealogy/ The first article by George Eastman reviews the website. http://footnote.com/

His mom said there was a family secret, and since she passed in the early 70s, we may never know, but doing my darndest. She always said her name was Alberta Francis Berkschneider (not sure of spelling, could be bergschneider, brockschneider, but she always pronounced it with the "k" sound). On my fathers' birth certificate, though, it listed her as Alberta Sylvia Mary Beers (in my original post,I had it wrong, sorry). This may be a clue as to what the secret was. Was she married before my granddad, adopted, hiding Jewish ancestry? We know she was born in Missouri in the early 20s, and had a brother, Leonard Beers, and we think, a sister Donna. Her father may have been Bert Beers, born in Nebraska in 1883, mom, we think, is either, Clara M or Margaret C Beers, b. in Illinois in the 1880s. There are 2 other females listed in the 1930 census, not sure exactly who they are, but the names are Martha Hartman, b. in Germany, and Georgia Williams, born in Illinois. My grandmother was married to Raleigh Vestal Robinson, they lived in Calif. and maybe Louisiana, also was married to Lloyd Henry, and they lived in the Lubbock/Slayton Tx. area, and Clovis, N.M If anyone has any info./pictures/documents, etc. to help shed light on this, it would be so very appreciated. Thank you, Cynthia Fischelli

I am delighted to announce the new County Coordinator for Sangamon County, Karima Allison. Karima knows Sangamon County very well, has experience with both the state offices and the county. She also is the Coordinator for the "Unknown County" for ILGenWeb. She will handle both the Sangamon web site and this mailing list and she'll do a great job for all Sangamon County researchers. Hey Cheryl, where did you read the review for Mildred's book? I would like to read it. Being from Illiopolis, I have known Mildred Kilhoffer for years. She told me this summer she was writing a book. She only told me Salt Creek and I assumed it was in our area. I will have to buy it. I am anxious to see the book, so will write to her. Her family sure bought a lot of Illiopolis History Books and are well represented in it, too. Which leads me to the fact that we are still accepting commitments order for a reprint of "150 Year Reminiscence, Illiopolis 1856-2006". We are trying to get 100 to commit before we reprint. We are have 69 now! So if anyone is interested this might be your last chance to get the book, as I doubt if it will be reprinted soon, might be 50 years next time. All we need now is a commitment, no monies. Can mail to Illiopolis SQ P. O. Box 225 Illiopolis, IL 62539 or call 217-486-3011. The book is 8.5 x 11,480 pages, hard-bound and indexed and is selling for $40. If mailed $45. At 12:47 PM 1/8/2007, you wrote: >Here's a book which might interest some of you.
