    1. [ILSANGAM] Journal of the Illinois House of Representatives?
    2. Robert L. Webb
    3. Dear friends, Several years ago while at the Illinois State Historical Library, I found and studied an early journal of the first several sessions of the Illinois State Senate. It was quite interesting. I copied the testimony of a one or two members of the Senate in whom I was interested. Does anyone remember, or have you seen, whether there is a Journal for all the sessions, both of the Senate and House, that can be read? I'd like to see the journal of the House, for a couple sessions for which George Walker was elected from my county (Hancock) in the 1840's and 1850's. Guess I should ask the Library itself, just thought someone might know, or might like to know about these journals, besides myself. Robert

    1. [ILSANGAM] Reeves and Irwin marriage in IL
    2. Carole Hammond
    3. I have a Reeves girl who married an Irwin before the 1850 census so her name doesn't show up on a Federal Census. I don't know her husband's name and I'm not really sure of her 1st name. Ailsey, daughter of Alexander Reeves and Effie Cummins of Gardner Twp in Sangamon Co., was widowed or divorced by the time of her father's property was sold in 1864 and was listed as Ailsey Irwin. Ailsey may have been named for her grandmother Alice "Alsey" Jones so perhaps her first name was also Alice. Or Elsie or Elizabeth, etc, etc, etc. Do any of you Irwin researchers have an Irwin man in your records who married before 1850 and died or divorced in Illinois before Feb. 1864? Thanks, Carole

    2. Cheryl Rothwell
    3. Slightly off topic, there are still Hanks [Lincoln's mother's family] in next door Macon County. I assume someone has worked on that genealogy too but while I know some of the modern Hanks I don't know any who are working on genealogy. I only mention this because the state is planning a great many events for 2009, the 200th anniversary of Lincoln's birth. If you have good documented genealogy the archives or the library might be interested. Cheryl Rothwell

    2. Hi Sandy, Decided to take a quick look at your message tonight. My 2 second response is that the Powell name is probably from William Henry's wife's family and I have not researched that line at all. I will do some more playing in the morning. My direct e-mail is _AWDmom@aol.com_ (mailto:AWDmom@aol.com) Looking forward to putting pieces together. Thank you. I wasn't sure with it being such an old posting. Here's the scoop... my mother-in-law (she's in her 90's) is wanting to find information on her father Robert Louis Powell. He was hard to find, but this morning through Ancestry I finally found him on 2 Census records living in the home of his Uncle, William H. Billington. They are the 1900 and 1910 census. Do you have ANY info that can help me with the Powells? Of course I need the Billingtons also, but finding it all this morning is still all new to me. Her father was listed as "Louis" (his middle name so I thought) and his brother Charles is also with him on the 1900 census. I already had his 1920 and 1930 census but was stumped on finding the older ones til today. I understand most all the men in the family worked for the Rail Road.
