1. Re: [ILSANGAM-L] Humphrey and Coe Families
2. Gene--this is what I can give you and others are welcome to add. In Sangamon Co. there is a Cooper Township, and in that township there is the town of Buck Hart. There are four known cemeteries in Cooper Township and the one that I see near Buck Hart is called Oak Hill aka Cooper Cemetery. The Sang. Co. Gen. Society has a book which list all four cemeteries. Sangamon County Genealogy Society --Check the publication list and look for Cooper Township Cemeteries. Maybe one of the cemetery lists would help in your quest. Jan Gray SCGS-Cemetery Chair Springfield, Illinois gjgrayinc@aol.com

2. Edwin E Wagner
3. Is anyone researching the Humphrey and Coe families of Sangamoun County 1820-1860 If so I would like to compare some notes with anyone. I have William Reed Gibson Humphrey married to Priscella Hains Sangamoun county. 1844 and there children married into the Coe family of Va. They seemed to have lived in Copper.? as per notes below. WRG was clerk at the twsp of Cooper ILL. A temperance town in 1861 this is in Sangamon County ILL. The history states that it is a temperance town it has never had in it a saloon, He belonged to the Good Templar Lodge the Lodge was given the name on Buck Hart Lodge NO 295 I.O.G.T. it is now in quite a flourishing condition. The town was organized as a political division of the county in the spring of 1861. The above is about all I have ever found on them until later in Mo. after moving with there children One of there sons Edwin married Mary Catherine Coe 1876 in Sangamoun county. There is also a son Edwin ( first born) Buried in a Cemetery in the county? Comments are welcome and any ideas ? Gene

With her are William and Lizzie, my great grandparents and their two children, William and Lydia (aged 3). We never see nor hear of Lydia after this and are trying to find out if a child named Lydia McBroom, at least three years of age is buried somewhere in Sangamon County between 1870 and 1880. What cemeteries would be in Springfield Township in after 1870? Also looking for John McBroom and Jennie Angel who married in Sangamon County? All help greatly appreciated. Dotty Lay

1. [ILSANGAM-L] A sad loss for Sangamon County
2. Norma Jean (Krohe) Wilkinson who was a board member, past president, secretary, and chairperson of the cemetery committee for over fifteen years passed away yesterday. She along with Shirley Fuhrmann collected information, read stones and gathered information from local newspapers and caretakers of over two-thirds of the cemeteries in Sangamon County. Both ladies have now passed on to their reward and will be sorely missed. Norma's wake is Monday night from 5 until 7 at the Vancil Memorial Chapel on South Grand Ave. in Springfield. As President of the Sangamon County Genealogical Society, I wish to express my gratitude for the work that she did for our society. Sincerely, Dan Dixon President SCGS

1. [ILSANGAM-L] Obit for Vera Stuller
2. Pam Haithcock
3. Dear Wonderful list: I'd like to thank everyone who volunteered to send me the obit for my aunt, especially Gayle Swoik who emailed it to me right away. I can't thank you all enough. Aunt Vera and Uncle Hugh owned several Steak-N-Shakes which they started in 1939. They really loved the business and now they're son, Harold and his wife run them. In fact, they are opening a new one soon. My mother and I were planning a trip to see her in the next couple of weeks, but unfortunately she fell, had a stroke and died in a matter of days before we could get there. Also unfortunate is the fact that she died on her son's birthday, but I have so many wonderful memories of her that I will treasure forever. I don't believe aunt Vera ever carhopped, but I might be wrong. If she did, it was a very long time ago, because she was 92. Thank you again so much! Pam Haithcock
