There were Cloyds in Decatur, Macon County, IL in 1950s-1970s. Some may have lived in Oreana, Macon County, and I think that Cloyd's Market is still in existence in Decatur. Don't know if any would link to you or not. Just letting you know they are there in case anything might click. Dave H

I am not familiar with this Humphrey. There are some Humphreys (one or more) who are related to the Constant family in Sangamon County. Also Humphreys (various spellings) in MO. related to the Cowhick family I believe, Sullivan and/or Grundy counties. I think there is even a town by that name in one of those counties, but that might be wrong. I do not have my info at hand so this is just from memory. If either of these tie into your research I may have some info for you. Dave H
Ann, I have checked the Birth Record Sangamon County, Illinois 1860-1878 book and found no mention of Minnie Mae Smith. It is possible that there was no record made of her birth as the state of Illinois did not require birth records to be kept until 1916. There was a law that was not always enforced which came into existance in 1877 but was not always followed by every county in the state of Illinois. The only vital records which were kept with some regularity were marriage records usually starting when the county was formed. Hope this helps. Sincerely, Dan Dixon Sangamon County Genealogical Society PO Box 1829 Springfield, Illinois 62705-1829 Dbutton2@aol.com

Searching for my g grandfather Peter Albert BANTA. I have very little info concerning him except that he was reportedly born in Sangamon county about 1860. I found him and his family in Brookston, MN in the 1910 census. They also had lived in Idaho & Wisconsin and I believe they moved back to Idaho & then maybe Washington. I must not have Not explained it enough, I have visited this area couple times I am familiar with the cemeteries and have many pictures, But I can go no farther back on this family!! In fact some of this family still lives in the area, getting older every day but still alive, But again no one knows anything about the couple they just show up get married and raise a family. There must be something some where to give a clue as to where they come from ???? There must be others researching this family as its fairly large family Thanks much for your thoughts. In Sangamon Co. there is a Cooper Township, and in that township there is the town of Buck Hart. There are four known cemeteries in Cooper Township and the one that I see near Buck Hart is called Oak Hill aka Cooper Cemetery. The Sang. Co. Gen. Society has a book which list all four cemeteries. Sangamon County Genealogy Society --Check the publication list and look for Cooper Township Cemeteries. Maybe one of the cemetery lists would help in your quest.
