Hi, I got the site, but no picture? Clara
Hello everyone, I've just returned from visiting family in California and my uncle brought a whole box of old photos for me to see. One of the photos is a large photo of what seems to be some sort of town event. I have not been to Springfield, so do not know where it was taken. I'm not even positive it is Springfield, but all the other photos in the box were from Springfield. The photo may be viewed at <http://people.ne.mediaone.net/wgaddis/springfield.htm> The original photo is about 12 x 17. Most of the photo is in the scan. I scanned it at 72 dpi. I believe it can be made larger to see the faces. If I need to scan at a higher dpi, let me know and I can redo it. If anyone can identify where, when or who is in the photo it would be much appreciated. Patty Gaddis wgaddis@mediaone.net p.s. If anyone knows anything about preserving old photos I would love to hear from you. I brought home around 100 of these photos and would be interested in the best thing to do for them.

Thanks, Shirley, for explaining this. The URL for the IL Marriage Database is: http://www2.sos.state.il.us/cgi-bin/marriage Remember the "status page" isn't up-to-date, so search for your surname, it just might be added. How do we know? Shirley is one of the volunteers who enters these marriages into the database for IL State Archives. She didn't tell you that <g> She is to be commended for all the time she contributes to this project in addition to all she contributes for the MAGA page and surrounding GW Counties. I know that my brother in law Dwight Pope has Humphrey relation. At one time they were in Christian Co. just the next county from Sangamon. You could call him at Pope's Barber Shop in Rochester, IL and ask him about the Humphrey family. Mary T.
There is a HUMPHRESS family at Pleasant Plains, IL. (John)
Mrs. Ben Tuxhorn (DAR ancestor Patrick Cowhick & Catherine Lawson, PA), RR 2, Box 49, Edinburg, IL 62531-0617.

Was there by chance a birth record for William A Young. He married in 1899 and was 31. Dear Dan: Thanks for the reply and your efforts. Ann
Well Dave, my problem is I don't know who he is related to ,grin> I have been searching this William for about 30 years and have never been able to connect him to any one, But I have never found to many Humphrey families in Sangamoun county at the right time frame 1844 is when he married. A census report shows him as born in PA. But with all the research I have done I have never found his there either? I do not even find her family Hains? So I must be missing something some where.? Got any good ideas or any comments they are welcome. There are some Humphreys (one or more) who are related to the Constant family in Sangamon County. Also Humphreys (various spellings) in MO. related to the Cowhick family I believe, Sullivan and/or Grundy counties. I think there is even a town by that name in one of those counties, but that might be wrong. I do not have my info at hand so this is just from memory. If either of these tie into your research I may have some info for you.
