Two years later they settled in Cotton Hill Township. They came to Sangamon County from Hampshire County, Virginia (now West Virginia) with a possible stop in Licking County, Ohio. William had md. his first wife, Margaret CHAMBAUGH in Va. and they were the parents of the following children: John md. Sarah DONNER (daughter of George) Absalom Robert Nancy md. William MARTIN Samuel md. Polly DELAY William md. 1. Bernatta MELUGIN, 2. Nancy? 3.Mary DUNN Silas Catharine Jane md. Henry FOSSETT Margaret died and William md. Celia in Hampshire County and they were parents of the following children: Josiah md. Emily M. FREE Emanuel Isaac Margaret Ann William TORRENCE died 17 April 1841 and Celia md. John H.     3. Hello. I am new to the Sangamon County, Illinois mailing list. I am trying to search for the record of the marriage of my great-great-great grandparents, William Henry FERDON and Martha A. REDMAN, which I think happened in Springfield or other area of the county about 1839 or 1840. William Henry was from New York, and Martha was from Mount Sterling, Kentucky. Their first child, Richard was born about 1840 or 1841 in Springfield. My great-great grandmother was their last child, Margaret, born November 11, 1848. All of the four children were born in Springfield, but they moved to Woodburn, Macoupin County, in 1858. Pat Hansen

    3. This is interesting. The A. W. Brown is my Leander's brother. I'm going to have to find out who the LUM family is and why the two Brown children were living with them. I'm making a guess they are part of my search. Thank you very much for your help. Charlene

    3. trying to find the family of William Allen (b. 1834 In,)and wife Martha(Louisa) Allen (b. abt. 1837 in NC). I think they lived in Springfield for a time and maybe Havana before that. They were married in Champaign Co.     3. Hello List, Would someone please look up in the 1860 Sangamon County Census Jacob J. Brown and Emily Ralston. In the 1850 census Jacob J. Brown 25,was living with his widowed mother 63 at dwelling #1397/1397. Emily age 18 was living with her parents at dwelling #1400/1400. The couple married after the census was taken in 1850. The Powers book says they were the parents of seven children. I would like to know the names and birth information on these children. It might have been by 1870 that all seven were born.     3. Jacinda, If you had a little more information, I might be able to help you. But I don't have any reference material for Sangamon Co., IL that late. Have you tried writing to the Sangamon Co., IL, Genealogical Society? They have quite a bit of material. Shirley
