No William or Callie Young listed in Fancy Creek Cemetery in Macon county. Dave Hunter, Nicea@aol.com
If they were in Mechanicisburg area, you might also look at Illiopolis, Buffalo Hart and Mt. Auburn (Christian County). There was a lot of movement between these communities. Current funeral home for Illiopolis is Dawson & Wicoff. They took over for Pritchett (or something like that) Funeral Home. I don't know who was contemporary with your relatives. They do not appear in the Cemeteries of Mechanicsburg Township. Only Weaver is Sarah E. Weaver d. Feb 2, 1894 56y 11m 14 d (Row 14) No tombstone. Buried with the Knight family. I don't find them in Long Point Cemetery (Niantic) or Friend's Creek Cem. in Macon County. I don't find them in Cooper Twp (Sangamon County) either, their son, Samuel's, home. They were long shots, but they are not that far from Mechanicsburg so they were not totally out of the question. The church records for Illiopolis Christian Church begin in 1866. The Illiopolis Methodist Episcopal Church records begin 1875. Not much help. I am not aware of the Catholic Church or other church records being published. Dave Hunter Nicea@aol.com

Yes, I found a listing on the Illinois State Archives Marriage Database for them with a date of October 2, 1871 in Sangamon County, License #004/0478. You may obtain a copy of the marriage record index or the marriage license (probably in ledger form for the county) from IRAD--University of Springfield. The address is: IRAD-Lib 144 University of Illinois at Springfield P.O. Box 19243 Springfield, IL 62794-9242 At that early a date, no parents would be listed on the marriage license, but the name of the clergyman and denomination would be listed. You may also try the court house in Springfield: Sangamon County Clerk 200 S. 9th Street Room 101-County Building Springfield, IL 62701 The charge at IRAD is 10 cents per copy with a minimum of $1.00 charged. It will be more at the courthouse, but I am not sure how much. Hi Brenda, I'm not sure if the book you seek is actually titled "Early Settlers of Sangamon County - 1876". But if it is all of the biographies from that book are online at the Sangamon County USGenWeb site. You will find an entry therein for a Turner Holland who had a son named William H.H. born October 28, 1840. You can check out the information for your self at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilsangam/sangamon.htm Then select the link for Index and Biographies from 1876 History. Find Turner Holland in the index and click on the page number. You will find the biography I mentioned. You might also want to check the biography of Asa Canterbury since it was the daughter of his son, Carlisle H. that married William H. H. Holland. H.H. Holland is also mentioned in the biography of Levi Cantrall. The entire book is online at www.genealogylibrary.com - however, that site is a subscription site so it might be better to borrow the book from a library if you want to see if there is more information about William H.H. Holland in the book. Sometimes the book contains interviews with some of the people living in 1876. Hope that he'ps some ... g.mo Morris Myers -----Original Message----- From: Brenda Nimick [mailto:ebnimick@vcn.com] Sent: Tuesday, August 29, 2000 5:18 PM To: ILSANGAM-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [ILSANGAM-L] "Settlers of Sangamon County, Illinois" Posted on: Sangamon County, Il Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Il/Sangamon/1657 Surname: Holland ------------------------- My great great Grandfather, William Henry Harrison Holland, left Sangamon County in 1881 and moved to Buffalo, Wyoming where the family has remained.
