Hi Jan. The Hodgerson Cemetery holds several of my ancestors. John Hodgerson was my GGG-Grandfather. I would be glad to help out in any way that I can. I have been to the cemetery in 1996. It was in very very bad condition at the time and I just heard from a person who was there this summer and conditions have not improved. It is on private property but enclosed by a strong fence. Apparently damage was done in the past, possibly by livestock, but no further damage can be done. I do not have any early pictures of the cemetery but I can tell you that I think quite a few people that are not on the published list of this cemetery are buried there. The last person to be buried there was my Great Grandfather Elias Frank Carter in 1937. Margarette Davis
Posted on: Sangamon County, Il Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Sangamon/1681 Surname: ------------------------- Hello--I am interested in finding people or information about Loami and Maxwell Twp. cemeteries. For example: A picture of Lick Creek Chapel Church (Staley Cemetery)in Maxwell Twp. Family photos and histories to the following: In Loami--Campbell, Hall, Sulphur Springs Cemeteries. In Maxwell--Hodgerson, Little Hope, McDevitt(Smyrna, Park), Staley(Chapel)Cemeteries. SCGS is planning to publish a combined book of these township cemeteries and would like to offer to our readers a little history from relatives of these sites. Possibly an early picture of some of the cemeteries. I don't know what is available, but this is a "shot in the dark" so to speak, and would like to make additions to the last edition. Sangamon Co. has such a wealth of unknown resources that I thought I would post to see if there is anyone who would like to contribute to this publication. Hope to hear from you soon and I'll keep looking for information in the SCGS files. All suggestion welcomed. You can email me at: gjgrayinc@aol.com Thanks, Jan Gray Cemetery Chair--SCGS P.O. Posted on: Sangamon County, Il Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Sangamon/1678 Surname: Maisel ------------------------- I wish to determine where in Germany my great-great-grandfather George Adam MAISEL originated. He brought his family to the United States about 1847 and settled in Springfield, Illinois, shortly before 1860. The 1860 census gives his birthplace as PINE (or P'NE), GERMANY. The 1870 shows daughter Charlotte to have been born in BAIME (or BAINE). What part of Germany do these designations actually refer to?
