I just thought I'd say Hello out there! I haven't found anything about your Dorothy & Dolores If you recall ...we exchanged some email a year or so ago... I was going through www.rootsweb.com and just saw your inquiry (Why is Mable Elder in Sangamon County). Rootsweb is free and is quite new and is somwheat extnesive (but nowhere near complete - it only covers wthat the various states have published on line). But you may want to try it to see if you can find more about your Dorothy & Dolores. My cousin in Germany and I (here in DC) are still working to locate about 23 of our 34 Nieder relatives who cvame here from the Saar (between France & Germany) between 1750-1882. Last September, I went to the family reunion there in Germany... just wonderful.. like the long lost kiddies who finally found their way back home. Not much luck in findign those relatives, but have come across a whole bunch of people whose families shortened their names to Nieder when they immigrated... Wish you the best! 1. [ILSANGAM-L] Hardy family in Illinois
    2. Hello, I'm looking for my great grandfather, William V Hardy. I do not know positively that his middle initial is V - that's simply been "passed down" He did married my great grandmother, Lettia Luticia SNELLEN McHenry Bagby (1843-1912) December 25, 1875 in Henderson County, Illinois. I have a copy of their "marriage License" - a little sliver of paper I received from the County Clerk. My grandmother remembers that he was married before because he had his children from a previous marriage living with them. My grandmother, Ada May HARDY Robinson, was born in 1877 in Hancock County Illinois. Mr Hardy left, with his children from previous marriage, in the middle of the night when Ada was 4 or 5 years old. They never saw or heard from him again. She remembers him being tall, thin, straight, having a red beard, and proud of his Irish decent. I would love to find any info on this man! All ideas will be greatly appreciated! I've noticed that sometimes the name, when it's written in messy longhand has looked like Poffenburger- and there ARE Poffenburgers in the area. The name has also been written Peifenburg. I think originally it might have been Pfeinburger. Anyway, thanks for spending your lunch hour checking this. We'll pursue the Kidds in Macoupin Co. thanks! Alison Clement

    3. Posted on: Sangamon County, Il Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Sangamon/1731 Surname: POFFENBARGER, POFFENBURGER, POFFENBURG, POFFENBERG ------------------------- Hi, Alison, I just got back from spending my lunch hour looking at the 1920 Census Soundex. I was looking for the Elmer Kidd family of Illinois. He was supposed to have married Blanche Peifenberger (according to Mari Clement) and I was verifying this by looking at the 1920 Soundex for Illinois. I was also looking for any of Blanche's family. The Soundex code is P-151 and all I could find were Poffenbarger, Poffenburger, Poffenburg, Poffenberg, etc. and most of them were in Rochester, Sangamon County, Illinois. I would suggest that you try looking for a different spelling of the surname -- there were no Peifenbergers at all. Hope that helps. By the way, Elmer Kidd and his family are in Macoupin County, Illinois in 1920. Good luck, Lisa
