I have some pages that I xeroxed from a cemetery index for Sangamon Co. The index is alphabetical and then there is a key for the TWP and cemetery where the person is buried. If someone on the list has access to this index, could you please check and see if there are any Parsleys listed. I would be most appreciative of this. I know some died in the county but cannot locate a burial site for them. Margarette Davis

Connie, does the Lincoln Library also do obituaries for other counties? I am anxious to find the obituary for my 3 great grandfather who died in Litchifield, Montgomery county, and who lived in Woodburn, Macoupin, for awhile. He also lived in Sangamon for some years. Is there anyone who could tell me about the parents and siblings of Caroline Falkel. She married John McIntosh 10/02/1871. John McIntosh was the Brother of my Grgrandfather, William Bailey McIntosh. They were born in New York, I don't know City or State. William's death certificate says that their Father's name was Angus. John and Caroline were married in Sagamon Co. I think in Springfield. Any help would be appreciated! Louise Hopkins ______________________________________________ FREE Personalized Email at Mail.com Sign up at http://www.mail.com/?sr=signup
One of the very best professional researchers I have ever used does do Sangamon County research and I believe she is on this list. She is Mary Ann Kaylor and if she doesn't still do research she would probably recommend someone. Laverne Galeener-Moore
I am looking for information on how to contact the local DAR or SAR chapters in both Lincoln and Springfield. I am trying to get information on three (3) ancestors, two of whom are buried in Logan county - Humphrey Scroggin and Henry Kime, and a third - John Musick, who is apparently buried in Sangamon county and also has a plaque in the Sangamon county courthouse. All three are direct line ancestors of mine who served in the Revolutionary War. Bill Scroggin
Posted on: Sangamon County, Il Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Sangamon/1754 Surname: VANCIL, DONNER, MOORE, HOLLOWAY, MOORE ------------------------- Lydia DONNER VANCILl was the daughter of GEORGE DONNER by his first wife SUSANNAH HOLLOWAY. I am uncertain as to John VANCIL's parentage; there was a Samuel VANCIL in Auburn Towship who arrived in Sangamon County about 1818 and died in 1828. He would seem to be a possibility for John's father. John & Lydia VANCIL had 11 children and I do know they moved to Hempstead in Nevada County, Arkansas, seemingly following their daughter, Susan Tamsen who md. Isaac MOORE. Prior to going to Arkansas they were in Hancock and/or Henderson counties in Illinois. John died while visiting a daughter in St. Louis and is supposed to be buried in the Bellefontaine Cemetery, but I have not verified the burial site. Lydia supposedly went to Idaho to visit a daughter, Rose Anna, and died and is buried there - this is also unverified but gives you a place to search. A New Colonia Family History by Evelyn V. Lowdermilk Ball contains information on this Vancil family. Hope this helps. Jo Ann Brant Schmidt
