Dan Dixon, President SCGS - Many thanks for your response ! I am not sure I have the correct title for the book, here is the only 'title' I could find - it was from the film details for FHC microfilm # 1305066 Item 9. The 'title' was : Excerpt of mortality records of churches in Sangamon County, Il. Caldwell, George E [he evidently copied the records from original sources] There was no other heading for the records. I did not think this a proper title, as it did not contain expected capitalization, other Book Titles from this resource page were Capitalized. I hope this book is properly titled, and you might be able to describe more clearly what it contains. I am researching GREENWOOD families from Middlesex County, especially Christchurch [parish?]. John GREENWOOD married Lucretia McTYRE or McINTYRE in 1734. They had several children according to the IGI, a few more according to the PRFiles. The microfilm I have been looking in shows the original records for the 1734 marriage, and the birth of 3 sons, Thomas in 1735, William in 1740 [mine] and Robert in 1743. Some anomalies with the data recieved from internet contacts leads me to believe the above William married a person unknown and had a son, also named William who married Ruth BROOKS. My proven line starts with this marriage in 1803 in Petersburg, VA. I am working on the possiblily that the William born 1740 above, is the FATHER of the William who married Ruth BROOKS and had 9 children, several born Sangamon Co. Death reocrds for the various Williamses will possible help me sort out the mess. That is what I hoped to find in the requested records. Meg Greenwood / Oklahoma

Meg, What is the complete title of this publication? If I know the title I can tell you about the book. Sincerely, Dan Dixon President SCGS Sangamon County Genealogical Society PO Box 1829 Springfield, Illinois 62705-1829 Dbutton2@aol.com
This book seems intrigueing - the Book on Sangamon Co Burials. But it has NO DATES to suggest a century, or any time period in film number 1305066. It contains excerpts for many mortalities in Sangamon Co, IL. All churches supposedly included. I am looking for GREENWOODs, there are several here for my line. Is this worthwhile ? I am looking in the late 1700s to mid 1800s era. Does someone have the book, it is listed as being in Sangamon : Microfilm of typewritten manuscript in the custody of the Sangamon County Genealogical Society. Many thanks for the assistance - Meg GREENWOOD - Oklahoma
Reed Hensley (wife, Dollie) was funeral in Pl. Plains for many many years - during 30's, 40's, 50's and probably 60's. Sold the business to another funeral director in Spfdl, IL I don't believe Reed & Dollie had any children but I could be wrong.
The last I had found my Hughes family was in a Sangamon County census for 1870, then I couldn't find them again. >From a search on the IRAD, I found a "letter of guardianship" for John Hughes in Sangamon county so I sent for it. I received it today and it is the same family! What this tells me is apparently John A. Hughes died on or before Sept 21, 1875, and his 15 or 16-year old son John petitioned for guardianship for the minor children (his brother Charles Henry and Edward Hale.) Joseph D. Roper was appointed. What puzzles me is: What this a common thing in those days because the mother, Isabella was still alive and signed the papers? What was his role in this guardianship? Since I haven't been able to find either Isabella or John Hughes in a later census, would they have listed Joseph Roper as "head of household?" Does anyone know if there is a place where I can find a death certificate for that time frame or was it probably gone in the fire? Or where else I could find death information in Sangamon county? Thanks for all the great help this list has given! Marilyn Hughes Oregon
