YOUNG. He was married to Henrietta "Jetty" LUNING in Menard County Illinios on March 2, 1893. They had one known daughter named Anna who married a man with the last name of WILLIAMS. and five known sons Otto, Walter, Henry, Harry and Carl. He died several years before his wife. Posted on: Sangamon County, Il Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Il/Sangamon/1960 Surname: SPAULDING, BURROUGHS, BURROWS ------------------------- My great-grandfather Albert Starr Spaulding lived in Springfield IL from 1866 when he was born there until at least 1902 when his son, my grandfather, Easton Ewing Spaulding, was born there. At some point before 1935, the entire family moved to California from Springfield. My great-great grandfather James Benedict Spaulding was the first to move to Springfield from Caneadia, Allegany County NY some time between 1854-1866 with his wife Cynthia Ewing. I seek any social history, family info on these Spauldings. I also seek info on Albert Starr Spaulding's wife Nellie L. Burrows/Burroughs. They were married 1/15/1890 in--it is written--Canton MO--but Canton IL makes a lot more sense. Thanks
Yes, I have a good web site for you. It is http://home.att.net/~Local_Catholic/ When you get there, scroll down to the world map and click on "United States" link. That will take you to a states page. Click on the "Illinois" link and that will take you to all the diocese and parishes of the state. Scroll to the Diocese of Springfield where you will find their web site and contact information. From there you can contact them about this. Ask them to check the "Official Catholic Directory" from the year you want (this is an annual publication of all parishes, priests, and religious at least for U.S. and Canada--I am not sure of the world). If this was a Catholic church in existence at that time with that celebrant, they can pinpoint the church and address, and be able to tell you if that church is still in existence. If it is no longer in existence, they can tell you where the records are located. Posted on: Sangamon County, Il Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Sangamon/1953 Surname: Ketchum, Love, King, Golden, Crutchfield, Hendricks ------------------------- Just a note real quick...these surnames have no known connection to Illinois or any of its counties. I found this at the Sangamon county site. Its a diary from a man with the last name of Reed and it pertains to the Donner Party. Thought you might want to take a look to see what it has to say. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilsangam/donner.htm Good luck
Bob, I know there is an Otter Creek in Jersey Co., near Nutwood. It flows into the Illinois River. Florence
Thanks. I'm trying to locate Bethel church near Cantrall, which (unless I've misunderstood the early minutes of the Sangamon Association) was originally called Bethel on Otter Creek. Guess a creek name could have been changed after 1831. I know there must be an Otter Creek in the vicinity of Girard, in Macoupin co., but I couldn't find anything in the area of Cantrall either, but I am not good at geography and not being on the web I don't have access to the several maps that have been mentioned. Thanks again for your efforts to help me. I'm beginning to think the church itself might have been moved, as far as its place of meeting (not that a building moved). Believe this Otter Creek also goes through the SW corner of Greene Co.. Cantrall Creek goes by Cantrall. Not too far away is Fancy Creek. Do not see an Otter Creek in northern Sangamon. Does anyone have a detailed map (I'm not on the internet) from which they could tell me if there is an Otter Creek somewhere in Sangamon County, possibly in the neighborhood of Cantrall? Posted on: Sangamon County, Il Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Sangamon/1952 Surname: CROWDER, CHANDLER, LOSWELL, LASWELL ------------------------- I believe the person you are referring to is John Crowder, son of Philip Crowder and his third wife Sarah Chandler. John was born in Green Co, KY about 1802. Philip and his family moved to Sangamon Co, IL by 1830. John married Mary "Polly" Loswell/Laswell 9 October 1822 in Green Co, KY. According to the book "History of the Early Settlers of Sangamon County, Illinois" by John Carroll Power (1876), John and his wife had 2 children in Green Co. and moved to Sangamon Co in 1826, preceding his father by 4 years. They had 8 more children in Sangamon Co. Those children and information about their marriages and subsequent children are also in Power's book. I would be happy to share the information. John's father, Philip Crowder, was a soldier in the Revolutionary War.

I am looking for information on the marriage of Ottis Burnett m. Ida Henry, in Sangamon County, on April 22, 1900. I believe Ottis/Otis Burnett to be the youngest son of George W. Burnett m. Emma Jennings, born c. 1878/9. Otis Willett "Willie" Burnett was also the youngest brother of Anna C. Burnett m. James Joseph "Joe" Cornelius Kelly, b. Mar. 21, 1875, in Vernon County, MO. Anna & Joe Kelly were my paternal grandparents. Otis and Anna had an older brother, Charles Isham Burnett, b. 1874, in KS. I have heard that the wife of Otis Burnett was of Native American heritage. I have the names of all of the children born to Otis and Ida Burnett. Also, I have much information on the Burnetts, as well as pictures to share. You may contact me at my e-mail address. Thanks, Patricia
