    3. On the Early Settlers Book of Sangamon .... I have the paper back version............ No Index... but It is in Alpha order........ super easy to read. Also be aware...... these Bios were written by the people themselves or a family member and did they ever imbelish stuff.... A whole lot am sure on some, actually they are a history in themselves.     2. From what I understood, people did pay to be included in the book/books. I would think that having a large book published would be quite costly unless some money had been forwarded. I have one from Logan Co., IL which is not nearly as elaborate as the ones from Sangamon or DeWitt Cos., IL - those books were so popular at that time, but priceless to us now. In Lincoln, Logan Co., the Genealogical Society had the reprint done, but asked for folks to sign up and pay in advance. I did so gladly! Marlyn Duff

    3. I checked both Higginson and Heritage. Higginson quotes $79.50. Heritage Books quotes $54.50. I believe that Higginson is in hard cove and Heritage is in paperback. I do not know if either of these includes an index. Thanks to all for the response. Maybe we could get the local chapter to put out a copy and we could help support them? Bob Drennan
