3. There was also a Charlie Bilyeu in Spfld. that was a photographer for the state for years. But think he has passed away also. But if you go to a library, see if you can get a Spfld. phone book and check the names there, maybe you could write to some of them and get lucky! Marilyn - Fla. 1. [ILSANGAM-L] Aldrich, Pilcher, Dyke and Long
2. Edrie Broughton
3. My great-great grandmother, Anna May Aldrich came to Sangamon County in 1852 as a seven year old child with her family. She had a twin sister Mary Elizabeth and lots of older brothers and sisters. She married Arza Brown Pilcher at the Chatham Baptist Church 15 Jan 1873. They had five children, Jessie Pearl (1873), Mabel Clare (1875), Charles Nelson (1877) and twins, Fannie May and Frank Ray (1887). Jessie Pearl married Frank Hayden Miner, 18 Sep 1894. My grandmother, Anna, 22 Jun 1895. Frank died in 1898 and Jessie married again and moved to Arizona and California. Mabel married James Long. Charles married someone but I have no data and his obituary mentioned no wife or children. Fannie May married a Mr. Dyke and had a son, Willie (I have several photos). Frank never married. Does anyone have when Fannie became Mrs. Dyke? I presume she married after 1900 or out of state since I have not found her records in the Marriage Register. Both Mabel and Fannie were living in 1952 according to a news clipping but I have no idea how long they lived. I have clippings on the Aldrich-Pilcher twin's 80th birthdays, obituaries for Charles and Jessie Pearl and new story on the death of Frank Ray Pilcher if someone wants to trade data.

1. [ILSANGAM-L] Bridges Surname.
2. Stacy Smith
3. Hi. Does anyone happen to have any Bridges in thier tree? I have a few on two sides, that I know they HAVE to connect somehow. On one side, I have Allen Bridges, father of Cynthia Ann Bridges. Cynthia was born June 16, 1823 in Illinois, married Thomas Shain on 6 July 1841 in Sangamon County, Illinois. On the other side of the tree, I have a Willis Bridges, father of Caroline Bridges. She was born, just 2 months after Thomas and Cynthia (Bridges) Shain were married ( 18 Sept 1841 in Sangamon County, Ill.) I think Willis' father was Allen. (I have that Willis Bridges was b. 14 July 1819). Was Willis the brother of Cynthia? That would explain why both Caroline and Cynthia Bridges were celebrating important events in the same county. AND it would explain why both Cynthia and Caroline (and thier families) ended up in Harrison county, Missouri. I just need some help connecting them. Can anyone help? (also, at www.eagleville.com/history.htm it mentiones "...In 1844 Willis Bridges, son of Allen Bridges, built the first house in what was to become Eagleville (missouri).... In 1852 Thomas Shain erected a small log frame building in town....") If anyone can connect, I will be happy to share any information I have found on the Bridges. Stacy (searching for the surnames: Green, McLaughlin, Wion, Jones, Truitt, and Stephen that came to Decatur county, IA, AND Stone, Elkins, Ward, Gillespie, Coots, Shain, Polley, Clevenger, Hook, Bridges and Smith that were in Harrison County, MO) Some say I am living in the past...I say "Naw just my computer is."

1. [ILSANGAM-L] Birth Records
2. It is highly unlikely that you will find a birth record in Sangamon County prior to 1877 as with most of the counties in Illinois. Birth and death records were not suggested as a form of public record until 1877 by the Illinois government and they were not REQUIRED until 1916. Most counties have marriage records from the date that the county begins as this was proof of the couple not having been married to other people for the purpose of land transactions. You might want to check the Sangamon County Genealogical Society's book Birth Record, Sangamon County July 1860 to September 1878 to see if this person appears. That publication as well as others is for sale at the following address: Publications List, Sangamon County Genealogy Society . Remember those years as they will help in researching many Sangamon County documents. 2. Mary Bond
3. I recently discovered that my mother's half brother died in Springfield, Illinois a few years ago. My mother had never met him so she missed that opportunity. I would like to find out if he had lived in Springfield his whole life and more about him. His name was Alfred Lovett Stevens, born in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1909. His mother died when he was 4 years old and he was raised by someone in his mother's family. Her maiden name was Shaw. If there is a genealogy angel who would be willing to check the city directories for years past, I would be very grateful. Thanks Mary at mebond@cox.rr.com

3. As soon as the Ancestry.com site is back up, I will check the Social Security Death Index for you. Chances are, if he was receiving payments, he is probably listed with his death date and city and state of residence. >From there you may be able to obtain a copy of an obituary from some Springfield papers.
