    1. [ILSANGAM-L] Porter's Grove
    2. I have done a search of the Illinois Place Names book, compiled by James N. Adams Occasional Publications, Number 55 Illinois State Historical Society, Springfield, Illinois 1989 and find no mention of a Porter's Grove for the entire state of Illinois. I also checked to see if there was a Potter's Grove and came up with the same result. Perhaps the spelling might be wrong or it was such a small community that it was never put on any map. During the beginning of the railroad age, 1850s, there were many paper towns platted in Illinois. This may have been a paper town and never came to life. The way in which to research this problem would be either through researching all the county histories of the 102 counties in Illinois or going to each and every courthouse and doing a deed search for the first thirty to forty years of that county's existance. 3. Judy, I did a search of Porters Grove at the USGS site at <http://geonames.usgs.gov/gnisform.html>. Nothing in Illinois. Even under Porter, IL. But, it did find a Porters Grove in TN. Are you sure your Porters Grove is in IL? Just a thought. Posted on: Sangamon County, Il Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Sangamon/11955 Surname: ------------------------- I am researching Adam and Andrew Starr who relocated in Sangamon County from Clark Co. KY around 1828. I believe Jesse Hegwood moved with them around that time. I believe Jesse Hegwood was a son to Elizabeth Starr Hegwood and Robert Hegwood of KY. Elizabeth Starr was a Sister to Adam and Andrew. I cannot establish any information on them in Kentucky. Robert Hegwood (son) moved with Abraham Starr(another brother) to Lawrence Co. Indiana 1826, and was listed in the 1830 IN census. Do you know what year Jesse Hegwood was born in? or any other info. I have info on Hegwoods in Indiana.
